| The plan was to publish the fixture list regularly in the programme, along with the first team fixtures but, new editor, new ideas.

Having a fixture list and previous results page in the program for 1st and reserves just sounds like common sense to me. Lets fans know what's coming up and what's been happening at a quick glance. Don't know why someone wouldn't want it in.

| Regards fixture list I have one that I prepared myself but too copy on here would take too much room. Could as Alan knows be reduced to fit in the programme. The only way I see forward for the team is to put it on the forum a week before specific games but it does entail a "bump" to keep it on top of the threads without Lynda having to put a sticky on it.

| Having full, up to date fixture lists for both the first team and reserves should be an absolute given both for the programme and website IMHO.

You might think that and so might I.
Actually, as well as being informative, it's a very easy 'page-filler' in that it only requires minimal updating for results/fixture changes, compared with say, spending two to three hours researching a feature, and an hour or so, writing it.
As for websites, I quite like the format of the fixture list on Leigh Life, which also gives links to the match day programme - although I suspect the programme may have made its last appearance on there. (and maybe the club website too?)

| There is a copy of current fixture list in ticket office that can be printed by Andrew Parkinson on request but trying to keep up to date is not so easy, as fixtures can be amended on request from either teams playing but only by agreement from both teams and also RFL, not a moan just the facts.

Possibly one for a member of the BOM to answer. (if any of them post on here )
For the Whitehaven game, I believe it was a former employee of the club, who appears to be back in some capacity at the moment.
Do you fancy giving it a go 'leighonardo'?

That would probably follow the 'Flat Cap' feature nicely. A seamless transition.

Allan Rowley who works for our Football Director Derek Beaumont and is doing quite a bit for the Board behind the scenes free of charge stepped in at short notice to pull things together and in mine and the rest of the boards opinion did a fantastic job. In Allan's own words he's a lover not a writer so big thanks to him and well done to him on behalf of the BOM.
As a side issue we ordered 700 copies and they all went on Sunday and it has received some great feedback in relation to the wider variety and increased content though granted due to lack of time the interim team had to pick up the reigns and put it together quite a few spelling and grammar mistakes slipped through the net.
This will not be a problem moving forward as our new communications guy and editor will take over the reigns in time for the next edition.
All will be revealed soon though he was sat in the Directors box on Sunday
Not a dig Alan but it has been noted that you were having to write four pages yourself which led to a bit of same old same old to many we've received feedback from though this is not a criticism merely an observation as I know you struggled to get people to help you and struggled for support at times but it does now seem in the hour of need since you have called it a day people have started to understand just how big of a job it is for one man and people are starting to rally somewhat which will hopefully mean a greater variety and hopefully an increase in editorial material moving forward.
I'm still personally sad your no longer with us but life goes on and a great start both sales and feedback wise for the new era for The Centurion all in all.
Thanks once again for your great efforts down the years and for ensuring that the programme is what it is today.
Regards
Andy

Thanks for the kind remarks Andy. We've chatted about this at length, and know where each other is coming from, so I couldn't resist replying to you.
It's finally reassuring to hear someone admit how much of a labour it is, and I'm glad the new person will have the support I was asking/pleading for, over the past 18 months. I believe it will work fine like that, provided the support stays in place.
The new material is refreshing and interesting to read. Of course, as we've discussed, the final straw causing my resignation, was the failure to get access to some of that material from within the club.
I'm slightly disappointed to learn at this stage, that 'many perceived it as the same old, same old', but I guess if that's what folk thought, I should really have packed it in a long time ago. Thank goodness I haven't responded to the interim editor's surprise and rather insensitive recent offer to contribute to future issues, or there would have been even more of 'the same old, same old'. To balance that, I've had scores of phone calls, texts, emails, and forum comments, that didn't see it that way. I guess readers will say one thing to one person, and something else to another.
Finally, just a slight correction on the ' [size=150four[/size pages' I was writing. I actually contributed [size=150 18[/size pages to the Wigan/Salford programme, and [size=150 10[/size to the Batley one. (I didn't put my name on them all! ) I also sourced all the photographs, with the exception of the Leigh match action ones. That's probably why the last two programmes took me in excess of 40 hours each.
Anyway, good luck to the new editorial team. I look forward to finally reading a programme, that is a surprise to me, on match day.
Alan.

The results of a survey can be influenced by the way a question is asked and also by the selection of those asked. I doubt anyone wearing a flat cap was approached.

As I used to sit in the communications meetings with you and the other guys and saw how Jackie struggled to cover for you last year while you were on holiday so rest assured I already fully appreciated what a great and difficult job you carried out for the club over the years.
You have gone on record as stating I had no part in your reasoning when you decided to hang up the pen also and I'd like to think we are friends and can speak our minds without offending each other.
I just wanted to address the balance on the clubs behalf as a Director really as I saw you intimated a question above would be best directed to a BOM member.
My post was mainly just to reassure fans that your departure will not impact on the product moving forward as we have gotten over the first and most difficult hurdle now with a solution and have now as a club executed a plan to bring in a suitably qualified replacement.
Everyone knows you were good and the product you served up bore testament to that and I was a big fan of your work but I'd liken this to David Beckham walking out the door at Old Trafford a little bit of doom and gloom initially then Ronaldo walking through it and the rest is now history
While I'm sad to see you go we can't and will refuse to look back as a business so it's now behind us and we move in a forward direction at our usual pace.
Little digs and snipes (always with a wink I will give you that ) will only serve to fuel this people hiding behind user names and just waiting to jump on a negative bandwagon and can if not nipped in the bud take the gloss off what is currently the best time I can remember for a very long time to be associated with Leigh Centurions.
Once again thanks for your efforts.
All the best,
Andy

I agree with your assertion, that said No survey to the very best of my knowledge has been carried out . Im purely going off feedback to the club generally via email to myself and other board members and staff, twitter and other forms of social media etc and even on here while there was a groundswell of support for Alan and rightly so I've not read anyone who's come out and said it's not a patch on what it used to be or similar in fact barring grammar and spelling mistakes it's been very well received.
Content was generally viewed across the board as improved and increased, I guess the message we learned as a club is that you need a proof-reader who is well versed in both English and rugby league, we've now got one.
Cheers
Andy

Well Alan I personally enjoyed the excellent content over the last few years and I applaud you for that. I wasn't privy to the actual meetings so can't comment , unlike other posters. However I've enjoyed an excellent program over that period.

Andy,
Of course I haven't got a problem with you. We've spoken at length, and I hope you realise that.
Thanks for the comparison with David Beckham, although I've had some searching questions to answer from my wife, who has accused me of repeatedly muttering the name 'Victoria' in my sleep, last night! The analogy with Beckham and Ronaldo is an interesting one. Didn't Ronaldo then leave, as did Ferguson, and how are United doing this season?
I'm glad to hear that the future programme will be in good, qualified hands - honestly. My constant insecurity was that I'd never had any previous experience of anything journalistic - which is why (in addition to my endearing modesty ) I would never have publicly praised the programme that was produced in my time as editor. May I suggest that the new communications person will also have a brief to vet website releases, in the interests of a professional approach all round?
'Little digs and snipes' are not just my province of course - even club officials have employed them from time to time on here. As for fuelling negative comments, well I try to stick to posting factual information, and even you must admit, not all that happens is ever 100% positive - anywhere in life. As this is a fans' forum, and I'm a fan of the team, I'll always contribute, where I see fit, and no longer see myself necessarily being 'restricted' to having to 'toe the party line'. However, I will also do so, in my name, and won't hide behind 'user names' like, as you say, many on here choose to do.

| Don,
Sorry to hijack your thread about the reserves. At least you haven't needed to 'bump' it to keep it going.
Back on topic - do you have any team news yet, for Saturday's game? And do we know how strong Oldham are this season? In previous seasons, they have had pretty good sides, haven't they?

Guys I don't anything can be gained from arguing about the programme but I've never heard anyone EVER complain about the content of Alan's programme; indeed it was widely regarded as the best, most professional programme in the league.
We're not privy to what's gone on behind closed doors but rather than insulting Alan (same old, same old and Beckham/Ronaldo), I think the very least the board could have done was to issue an official 'thank you' on the Centurions website for all the (free) hard work he's put in over the years.
Andy it's clear from both Alan and yourself that you weren't involved in the 'discussions' that lead to Alan leaving so in that respect I can understand what a difficult position you're in - and obviously your loyalties must lie with your Board.
Alan it's plain to see that you've been deeply upset by the events that led to your resignation and I would be too; it must be a bitter pill to swallow to see that the Board are now investing in more manpower after all the years you struggled on alone.
However I don't think any good can come from prolonging this discussion.
Tiptop, if you email the fixture list to me I can make another tab on the existing fixture list/league table on Leighlife. This can easily be amended when necessary to show any changes etc.

I'll PM you with my email address if you'd like us to include it on Leighlife.

I'll PM you with my email address if you'd like us to include it on Leighlife.

Quote ="mish"Guys I don't anything can be gained from arguing about the programme but I've never heard anyone EVER complain about the content of Alan's programme; indeed it was widely regarded as the best, most professional programme in the league.

Here here let's move on as well as not getting anyone anywhere it's now yesterdays chip papers and it's quite frankly boring now.
As you know I no longer control the communications team at the club I relinquished that part of my responsibilities late last year to concentrate on other areas of club business and I do occasionally have allocate a bit of time to fit in running my own multimillion pound businesses
John Roddy is now the lead on Communications and would be responsible for a press release should he see fit. I did notice in fairness to John he did write a tribute to Alan in the programme Sunday thanking him in his notes.
One point having read back over this thread I think it's important to clarify for the general public and for Alan as he only deals in facts, his reference to Allan Rowley as a former employee of the club as the interim editor was incorrect. Allan while CEO was employed by Concrete TS Ltd Arthur's company the same as he's now employed by Derek's company AB Sundecks so if he does work for the club he costs the club nothing same as our many loyal volunteers and myself and the rest of the BOM. Only difference with the Board is we are stupid enough to also invest many thousands of pounds of our own hard earned cash as well as volunteering our professional time for nothing also to in the first instance make sure we still had a club and then to move it forwards in the way we have done!!!
Let's move on the programme is now in experienced hands and will continue to be the best outside SL and the best in SL when we get there!!!
Cheers
Andy

| No results on RFL web site but I do know we gave Fev a walloping last week. Lads are up for Sat and next Wed at Fax so maybe we will have two top clubs in RFL land.
