Sadly I am inclined to believe it is true.

I do not think even if they reform they will be able to continue in the ridiculous Non Relegation League.

How long does it take certain Non Relegation club Chairmen to realise that a sport in the UK will not flourish under a licenscing system ?

Then there is the question of TV money how can it help the pro game as a whole if practically all of that money is shared out between clubs in a league were attendances are declining and have been since the introduction of licenscing ?

They also need to consider the decline in attendances for clubs in the you can stay where you are leagues.

Doubt the company will have been put into liquidation on a day when senior directors were up north for the RFL meeting.

Met a few London fans over the years, particularly at England games, and they're proper salt of the earth RL folk. Would be gutted for them if it ended like this - let's not forget that they've never finished in a relegation position in Super League, for all the talk of getting rid of them.

I also hope it's just a rumour, we've now started to get increasing numbers of London born players coming into the pro ranks and long may it continue. It will benefit the International game in the long run.

My friend who is now a former employee of London Broncos sent me this yesterday

" No i am no longer with Broncos. The club has informally liquidated. Which means they will move forward as London Broncos but will move to North London (Barnet) under a new owner. Players (other than handful of academy products and matt cook, who was also an LB academy product),performance staff and admin staff will all move on. The club have managed or are in the process of paying off redundancies with David Hughes' millions. The RFL will take on the academy which costs around £300'000. The only 2 people to move forward with the club are the two people at the very source of London Broncos failings..Tony Rea and Angus Mackay."

"Well the club is currently in advanced and crucial stages of meeting at the minute with the rfl and the owner of barnet fc. I have been lead to believe that the club will move forward on a small budget next year (under a mill) and play mostly young kids and a as many aussies as they can get. Tony Rea is currently asking for exemption of aussies like 'the old days' so the club can be competitive. He has also asked for exemption from relegation for the 'foreseeable' future to entice the barnet chairman to invest. You are not in a time warp, i did just say that and Tony Rea is seriously asking those questions. It is actually a joke.

The former head of youth Phil Jones has been there 15yrs and has grown the sport to a level you wouldn't believe. The amount of schools and kids in general playing it is phenomenal. And this crop of kids coming through now like McMeeken, Dixon, Sarginson, Krasnqi etc are the first group who have grown uo with rugby league and are actual fans of the game; not just 'Athletes' who have been transformed into rugby league players. Howver the clubs insistence to keep employing Tony Rea in various roles who has never put one long term plan in place throughout his 15yr allegiance with the club has killed it. Along with the current CEO who has no former rugby league experience or even interest and has been sacked from sussex cc and surrey cc in similar roles. As it stands, Phil Jones is returning to Warrington and the two clowns are moving forward. Sad to see. Again, wrong people in the wrong positions."

If London survive this and are still to be included in SL next year it will be another 'nail in the coffin' for the RFL!

That depends on whether it would be a new company or whether they're simply being taken over and moved to Barnet.

Well if what I gather from Saley's post is anything to go by then they can't stay in the Non Relegatable league unless the licenscing rules go out of the window as they did for Bradford. So of couse they will.

Whilst I do not like to see any club in trouble it is about time promotion and relegation was brought back and more importantly a fairer distribution of TV money.

Licenscing' as I predicted from day one has indeed proved to be a disaster for pro RL.

Frank. London will be given all the help and cncessions they have asked for, and then some. SKY will insist on it. Our sport yet again shows itself to be corrupt and unfair. RL really is going to die out if this carries on. Whilst I feel sorry for London and their fans. Come on, they've had a professional team there for 40 years and they still can't attract large enough crowds to fill a mini bus. And that from the largest city in Europe.

If Sly TV were that bothered about having LB in SDL why haven't they come forward and bought the club? It's not like there isn't a precedent. Sly's owners News Corp already own Melbourne Storm and have previously (not sure if they still do) owned Brisbane Broncos.

But re taking over the two Australian clubs you have to remember they are in a country where RL is the biggest sport and Rupert Murdoch was born over there.
