| And then Featherstone Rovers win their game the following week, resulting say in Leigh, Sheffield, Halifax and Featherstone all through to week 3 again...
Will the win at Post Office Rd then give Leigh home advantage in the semi final?... Or not?
Albert Einstein would struggle with this format or is it just the grey matter is no longer on my side?

Harold this may explain it for you , if Leigh beat Fev on Sunday , we will then have a week off , and play Fev at LSV , providing Fev won the next play-off game , Charlie knows .

Aye, but I wouldn't trust that 100%. I pored over it for hours and then wasn't sure before it was published!

That's wrong, we will play the lowest ranked team which of course won't be Fev

No, surely if we won at Fev, we would be the lowest ranked winner of the games between the top 4, and would have to play the highest ranked winners from week 2, which would then be Fev.

| Talk about confusing. If Leigh beat Fev then they would be away to the winner of Sheffield vs Halifax wouldnt they? Sheffield and Fax would still rank above Leigh the way I read it.
From what I can gather the top 4 will be number by position and retaining the number through out the play offs. So if Fax and Leigh both win away in their first game then the game to get to the grandfinal will be Halifax Vs Leigh at the Shay.
If for instance Leigh lose and Fax win the Fax have a week off before treavelling to Fev and losing that if results went by position would end up playing Sheffield to get to the final again this would be at the Shay.
It does look a big disadvantage been 4th because you will always be the lowest ranked team out of the top 4 no matter of results.(unless you win the first two games to get straighht to the final obviously)

| [uRFL announcement on the Championship play-off format[/u:
Week 1
Qualifying play-offs
=#FF00001st-placed club v 4th-placed club (winner advances to Week 3, loser home in Week 2)
2nd-placed club v 3rd-placed club (winner advances to Week 3, loser home in Week 2)
Elimination play-offs
5th-placed club v 8th-placed club (winner away in Week 2, loser eliminated)
6th-placed club v 7th-placed club (winner away in Week 2, loser eliminated)
Week 2
Preliminary semi-finals
=#FF0000Highest ranked Qualifying play-off losing club (1st, 2nd, 3rdor 4th) v Lowest-ranked Elimination play-off winning club (5th, 6th, 7thor 8th) (winner away in Week 3, loser eliminated)[/bLowest ranked Qualifying play-off losing club (1st, 2nd, 3rdor 4th) v Highest-ranked Elimination play-off winning club (5th, 6th, 7thor 8th) (winner away in Week 3, loser eliminated)
Week 3
Qualifying semi-final 1
Highest-ranked Qualifying play-off winning club v Lowest-ranked Preliminary semi-final winning club (Winner to Grand Final, loser eliminated)
Qualifying semi-final 2
=#FF0000Lowest-ranked Qualifying play-off winning club v Highest-ranked Preliminary semi-final winning club (Winner to Grand Final, loser eliminated)
Week 4
Kingstone Press Championship Grand Final
Winner Qualifying semi-final 1 v Winner Qualifying semi-final 2
Right!!
Say we won at Fev in week 1, we would then be the 'lowest-ranked qualifying play-off winning club' (i.e 4th of 4)
If Fev then won in week 2, they would then be the 'highest ranked Preliminary semi-final winning club' (i.e. 1st of 4) and would play at Leigh in week 3.

| Try again. If Leigh win at Fev then they will likely play Fev at home to get to the grand final. Same as if Fax win at Sheffield they will play Sheffield if results then go as they should. Both lose and they could end up going to Fev again for Leigh and SHeffield for Fax. Must say I like our route better rather than having to go to Fev possibly twice.

To be honest, it will require a minor miracle, for teams to turn up at the correct venues, after week 1.

| I'm glad our sport got a easy to understand play off structure !
I'm taking it one step at a time.
If we win we're at home week 3 , if we lose we are at home week 2 !

| If Leigh win at Fev in wk 1 we will then play at home in wk 3
Wk 3 Leigh v highest ranking (but not the other winner of wk 1)
If we win this game - Grand Final.
-------
If Leigh lose in wk 1 we will play at home in wk 2
Wk 2 Leigh v 5 6 7 or 8 (highest ranking)
If we win this game in wk 2 we will be away in wk 3 regardless of who we play because those two teams who won in wk 1 will be at home.
If we win in wk 3 we'll be in the final baby!!

| Going off the text which I assume came from a reliable source then I'm convinced Alan is correct - there's no mention in the text of taking another teams ranking or earning the right to play at home. Every round is highest ranked vs lowest ranked, 2nd highest vs 2nd lowest etc within the pools of teams playing each other. The only "ranking" you could reasonably expect to use for this would be league position. So every game Fev play in (except for the final) they'll be at home, every game Sheff play they'll be at home unless its against Fev who finished higher... and so on.
The way this could change in the later rounds would be for the emerging teams from the 5th to 8th place playoffs to cause an upset against the losers of week 1, in the week 2 games. The most likely for this you would think would be Batley against the loser of Sheff v Fax. If that was to happen, for example, Batley would then be the lowest ranked as they finished below us, and as such would play Fev, unless a lower team from 5th-8th has also caused an upset in the other game, however that would also mean either Fev or ourselves are knocked out.
So. Whatever happens in week 1, if the losers both hold their own against the challengers from 5th-8th in week 2, then the top 4 would all still be in the running going into the semis in week 3. And if thats the case the games would be highest vs lowest etc again, meaning an exact repeat of week 1, with us away to Fev irrespective of who won the previous one. At least thats how the text describes it.
This system is far and away the worst we've ever had in our division.

Once you get to round 3 it's nothing to do with ranking really because it all depends on whether you win in round 1. If we beat Fev in round 1, we will play at home in round 3 regardless of who we play because we will have earned the home game (as will the other winner of round 1).

| This is the key bit for week 3
"Highest-ranked Qualifying play-off winning club v "
The Qualifying play offs are week one. "winning club", if Fev lose then they are NOT the "Highest-ranked Qualifying play-off winning club"
