We needed points early doors when we were on top, we never looked like getting them due to being one dimensional and having one half back - IMO crowds are suffereing due to our style of play and the best teams defend easily against it.

We were on top at this stage, compare this to how Fev used the ball when on top.

We are tactically naive against Fev. Any fan knows how Fev will play, they slow it down at the ptb, get cheap shots in at every opportunity to bully the opposition and look for the ground to create a quick PTB for their exceptional 6,7,9 to orchestrate from. Rowley fails to do anything about this because the refs never will, unless we somehow get Ganson next time we meet.

They picked our left defence all night - what did we change to try and counter it?

Our pack stood up well and with their 6,7.9 would have rolled them over in the first 20mins. Watch Fevs attack with the depth and options it has playing behind the line - more importantly PAUL WATCH IT. Watch how Powell has them thinking and so well drilled to execute a gameplan that works against us.

So how do we stop our season fading away?

We need a 7, if we cant get one its McNally to 7 and Brierley to 1 - his real position anyway as he cant 'create' but reads a game and links in support brilliantly. I was also told last night that our coach had told Brierley he wasn't wanted when he thought we had Ellis signed - if true thats shocking if not then I have been fed a malicious lie, it did not seem to be the case.

Duffy - get yourself fully fit before trying to come back, dont let your huge heart rule your head, it will only end in tears.

Sorry Demon but this is a fans forum, and that rumour was being banded about last night by fans who had travelled to Fev to support their team, if untrue I hope the club act as only a small minority who were told it visit here.
If some decide the best policy is to bury ones head deep in the sand then that's an interesting choice, and one that probably got us in the sheeite we got into but it is your choice to adopt a Lemming attitude or not.
I consider the rest of my post to be constructive and positive, also if every fan had tipped in as much as me this year then we wouldn't have financial problems, and if I had tipped in as much as some others we would be watching Sam Tomkins with a Leigh shirt on.

Its a joke when you try and put the team down the lads played the best team outside SL last nite on there own midden couple of days after a bruising and hard game against a big Batley side the majority of the lads where carrying injuries some playing when they should be out for a few weeks and all some people can do is put the lads down
I felt for the lads last night they played themselves to a standstill played against in my opinion a ref who leaned heavly towards Fev , you should remember end of last season when we where without a team in debt and this year the lads with such a small squad have done remarkable playing some great rugby, you cant lose players like Goulden, Beswick ect ect
play a Batley side away then couple days later play a top Fev side and expect them to play like worldbeaters, truth is the lads where battered and bruised after the Batley game GIVE THEM SOME CREDIT FOR PLAYING FEV PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well said Detroitsoul! you couldn't be more right ,some fans just see black and white when watching a game and don't see/bother with the reasons why we lose .Ridyard is not rubbish ,he can't do it all himself he needs help and, can't believe that some fans gave Brierly some abuse at the end of the game ,when he's scoring tries they love him, how fickle .

I was at the game.we should have scored first. fev fan reckoned we had 27 tackles and couldnt score.was downhill after that when fev upped the pace on attack and defence were much quicker and more aggressive than us.rowley said some of our bench probably should not have played so difficult to change much.
with no game plan, nieve tactics ,sixth best coach in league, half team playing out of position,given start we have had a good season to date.some of our more experienced players are crocked,lost a bit of form the young lads done great and its cash in the bank for them for the future.
season aint over. get many as we can back on the paddock and as we have proved we can give anyone a game. dont think thats head in sand just based on what we have seen.the future is another matter we are still in a hole but if we all put in as much as the great mo I forecast we will be kicking Queenslands within 4 seasons

NaDM, most of your post is similar to my observations, with the exception that I made a comment refn what I and others were told by a fan last night, although I ain't sure if some wasn't tongue in cheek.


We are in a far better position than anyone could have imagined in September and can finish better than the past 2 seasons and get to a GF - especially with your contributions to fund the entire Aussie national team for the play offs putting mine to shame.

Maurice having read your opening post i have a coulpe of questions. Are you saying Paul is not good enough to coach Leigh and thats the reason we have lost the last 2 games?. I was unsure of Pauls ability as head coach before the season got underway but quickly my opinion became that i think we do actualy have the the makings of a very good coach in Paul and would do well to keep him for a few seasons as both him and the team develop in skill and experience. I do understand that a few bad results will have an effect on gates which in turn will impact on playing budget but we have lost to two good sides and and considering our squad options this season we are performing much better than i expected .

Fev had a game plan we didn't. They hit us on the left side all night, nobody changed it!! Each time Riddy got the ball and they were all over him, he does need help. They bullied us and got away with it, laying on cheap shots the lot...all down to the ref.
I think the team have all done well this season and I'm sure there is more to come.

Paul has done much better than I thought he would, but he seems limited in gameplan except the Rhinos game when we gave it a real go from the off - I have only walked away from Fax away really buzzing this year
I expected 2 defeats with the squad we have injury free, it seems we could have beat Batley and last night was poor.
I beleighve we can win the rest with a bit of fine tuning and some injury luck, but I can't believe he is playing with one half back.
We have reached a cross roads in the season and next Friday will be a big game for us.

A fans view. Ok, well, we were well beaten by the team who in all rights should be the team wo wins everything this year. Coming back listening to the radio Rowley summed up my view of the night and season up to now. Last October we didn't know if we were gonna have a club to support, let alone, CC QF. NRC SF and be in with a vry good shout of having a play off run. If anyone is gonna criticise that bunch of lads then can I kindly suggest that you go down the road and goto the DW. I couldn't care less how much mony you've put into the clb, but what the lads have done this seasn after the uncertainty has been nothing short of incredible. I suggest Tom that not one single Leyther go down the road road to the DW stadium. What I suggest is we as Leythers try to help the Leythers - who don't see it the way seasoned Leythers do or the the way the Leythers who are Putting the graft on the field and behind the scenes do - to try and understand that we have survived because we are Leythers and we are here today because the are people who care and feel every tackle and knock. We by all accounts should not be here because we had nothing but we did have something. We have a club that needs every single fan it can muster and driving people who have an opinion is wrong.
