Not in any particular order but thsese are mine

Pulling the tape off the quality street tin then putting it back when we had raided it.

Gorging on selection boxes and feeling sick after my 5th "Marathon" bar and 3rd packet of "Opal Fruits".

Showing my age here but Old Mother Riley was on every Christmas ,and we always had nuts { the ones in shells } and a tangerine in our stocking ,not a stocking they have now by the way

christmas eve party at butts bridge and catching the 10 o clock last bus home, how exciting.

A chocolate orange off my gran, going to a rugby match (not a friendly one) on boxing day, trying (and failing to get the chocolate decorations off the tree without my mum knowing, being allowed a bit of wine with christmas dinner,

Harvey's bristol cream sherry, Egg flip, turkey Lobby, sherry trifle, Party 4 & 6 tins of beer & home made mince pies with brandy sauce. Oh and pear shaped lights on the xmas tree.

When it snowed, me and brother peppering kids on their new christmas toys going past with snowballs and hiding behind the car, not that long ago really but they were wigan kids so its all good!

Will be watching my DVD again this Xmas - awesome film.

My mum was a district nurse and used to come home with all sorts of gifts. One Christmas she brought home a big tin of Brasil nuts - which were very hard to find / expensive in those days - they had been given to her by an old lady patient. After Christmas she went back on her round and the lady said 'nurse I have some more of them there nuts you like' - 'it's OK' said my mum 'you keep them' - 'no nurse you can have them - it takes me all my time just to suck the chocolate of them!



True story - I have never liked Brazil nuts since (unless they still have the chocolate on them)

Going to Hilton Park for the boxing day match

Watching Charlie and the Chocolate factory (the original version) and waking my mum and dad up at about 4 in the morning to open presents, they loved that

For me as a younster, it would have to be;

Seeing the living room transformed when decorated (I wasn't allowed to help decorate, that's Mum's pride & joy).
Waiting to see the Coca Cola advert on the tele (This is now meaningless, as it's aired in November!).
Trying to cop a feel of the presents under the tree when no-one was around.
Christmas Eve lasting an eternity, and Santa Claus: The Movie being on every single year.
Waking up about 10 times every Christmas morning, and being sent back to bed about 9 times.

Nowadays;

I love my annual tradition of leaving the wrapping of the presents till about half 4 on Christmas Eve whilst listening to Christmas songs on the tele. Really gets me in the spirit.
Overdoing it every Christmas Eve and feeling grim every Christmas Day.
Topping up from the night before, prior to Christmas dinner.
The feeling of despair every 2nd January, knowing what's around the corner.

Ahh how could I forget the cok advert on the tele

In recent times Only Fools and Horses Xmas specials were always on in our house.

Ive NEVER been near the Chocolate Factory

thats a Rumour i can strongly deny.

It used to be like that with Holiday adverts....Lunn Poly, Intersun, Pontinental - you'd never see 'em the rest of the year, but they'd start Christmas day 'til February!!

Cracking Brazil nuts on the hearth with a hammer (couldn't afford a nutcracker then !)



A real tangerine at the bottom of one of the long stockings which all us lads wore then until we were 12 (with short pants, of course)



Dandy and Beano annuals.

With you on that one!! I've also got a few Rupert Bear annuals in my Mum's loft that I'm hoping will top up my pension fund in a few years time!!

Tangerines in our stockings even though we didn't like them so they went back in the fruit bowl

Watching proper Christmas Day TV - Christmas top of the pops, 2 ronnies, only fools n horses

Watching dad & nanna snooze on the couch all afternoon

Boxing Day/ New Years day rugby matches, if leigh weren't playing we'd go & watch wigan v st helens

Trying to peak what prize was in the crackers prior to christmas day so i got the best prizes



taking games to school on the last day of term (wonder if i can get away with that at work next wednesday)
