Seems a missed opportunity for the LSV.
Our grounds links to the M6 are better and whilst the Reebok is next to the M61 if any sale fan was travelling from the South Manchester the M60 > A580 is a quick link to the ground.
I suppose it'll be nice to see a match played at the Reebok where the ball is kept on the ground more

You didnt watch the game on Sunday then?
I think there might be scope for Sale still to play a few games at the LSV, they are only trialing 3 games at the Reebok. Maybe they will do the same at the LSV, I know the sockets for RU posts have been fitted at the LSV.

| I think possibilities could have been great if Sale went to LSV - especially on a shared shop, and encouraging each others fans to watch the other team etc. Plus helps the burden of paying for LSV.

| Certainly wouldnt help us with any burden of costs at the LSV, if 100 teams play at the LSV the running costs would not alter, the LSV would just make more money.

Funnily enough , that is the figure I had in my head when I was contemplating a large lottery win a few weeks back

Sale games at the Reebok will be no more of a permanent move than Saracens playing one-off games at Wembley etc - the interesting point will come in mid-winter when Edgeley Park freezes over....

It`s a good job Utd have already visited the Reebok otherwise Fergie would n`t have been too impressed with the state of pitch..............

| Well thats cos they can't google Atherton and have no idea where it is.
They also would not know entertainment even listening to Ken Dodd or watching a blockbuster at the cinema.

| If Leigh are to become a significantly bigger club, we need to capture the Bolton market rather than RU or the likes of Wigan. Why don't Leigh consider playing a few on-the-road games there - perhaps a decent challenge cup match? Again just a thought

Depends how much they'd want for the rent, I suppose. There was talk of us groundsharing there in 2001 had we won the Grand Final in 2000 but not entirely sure if that would have actually come off (though worth bearing in mind that BWFC were in Division One at the time and were in dire need of the money)?

| I think i've heard in the past that the Bowton chairman (Gartside?) is a RL fan. There were a few rumours of Swinton going to Bolton a few years back.

Gartside is from Lowton, though not sure if he's a Leigh supporter or not.

Bolton signed a letter of agreement, to say they would let Leigh use the Reebok for early matches in SL, if Leigh had won the 2000 GF. However, it was never going to happen - it was just a way that we were looking to get round RL red tape, while HP would have been brought up to an acceptable SL standard. It was that letter that sparked off Mr. Caisley's outburst, in a RL Council meeting, about SL rules forbidding a SL team to groundshare with a professional football club - shortly before his Bradford Bulls moved to share with their soccer counterparts, in the city!!!

Strange as Wigan were already sharing the JJB by that point

I can't imagine for a second that the LSV are running at anything close to a profit, but would be delighted to be proved otherwise.

That's how it went though, Matt. I was working for the club, with our CEO at the time, at a Bolton company that also boasted the Bolton chairman as a director. As a matter of interest, where were Bolton, 'Latics and Bradford, in the football hierarchy in 2000/1? (that might have been what the chief Bull was whinging about!)

In 2000/2001, Bolton were in Division One (promoted at the end of the season), Latics in Division Two (promoted at the end of the season IIRC) and Bradford City were in the Premier League (relegated at the end of the season).
