| Selling these at the moment would probably be slightly (but not much) easier than trying to sell double glazing but here are a couple of idea's for you lot to either me down or agree with .......does'nt really make a difference because the powers that be will I'm sure take no notice either way!
In view of the Jan. 2011 VAT rise, any season tickets bought after that date will either have to go up in price or the club will have to absorb the extra tax deduction...so a £140 S/tkt would go up to £143.50 and normal matchday admission would rise from £16 ( to £16.40 ! ) and £14 ( to £14.35 ). But any season tickets bought before Jan would still be at the old rate.
So, with this in mind would this not be the ideal time to introduce some form of "early bird" season ticket at the sort of price that would make it silly not to buy one if you had any interest whatsoever in Leigh Centurions rather than the present system which in truth only benefits the "diehards" who can make any day or evening, all of the time.
Also an idea which they use with success in Ice Hockey, a Flexi ticket, were in our case you would be able for example to use a "any 4 match" ticket ( Lge or NRC) or a "any 8 match" ticket for £2/£3 per match cheaper than paying on the day. This would in my opinion prove popular with "floating" fans who because of work, distance they might travel , family problems or simply just the case that they love rugby but have other things going on in their lives as well, so would never commit to buying a normal style season ticket.
Giving "Free" tickets is never going to benefit the club or the LSV, it's very nice for the people getting the freebies but it's not "putting pennies in the pot" and I don't think it's a meaningful way forward , cut priced advanced ticketing however could well be worth a go.

| i think we should sell these as early as possible, i'll be getting mine ASAP. the ideas sound ok, will they take not .....probably not!
they need to put under 12's season tickets at a really low price! and work with all the surrounding clubs giving them discounts .

I like this idea, a lot of people moan that they don't know how many games they can make due to Sky games etc so this would be handy for those people!

| Seems a very sensible idea - 4 or 8 ticket books so I cant see the club going for it!
Better class of post since Blackburn went to Benidorm!!

| Forgot about the VAT rise. I'm guessing the matchday prices will be rounded up to £17 and £15.

That I fear would be the final nail in the coffin...........
Would take 300 - 400 (at least) off the gate.......long gone are the days when clubs and all types of leisure/entertainment business could just up the price and rely on punters to moan but pay up.....it ain't going to happen in this day and age.
The whole game needs to be marketed far better than anything previously seen or the slow death will become a quick one and we'll have Super League and the amateur game....but nothing much else !

| One advantage of having 5 months to prepare for a new season gives us longer to incentivise installment plans for example, any adult season ticket purchased in September will cost only £100 for the season (Including all games), £20 deposit and 4 subsequent payments of £20 per month makes it very afffordable.
£5 a week until the season starts or 71p a day.
What could you give up to afford 71p a day???
As each day passes in September we miss this opportunity.
Without any doubt in any sport in this world recession, season ticket sales are a must as walk up crowds are poor across the sporting world!!

Which is an absolute scandal for this level of rugby
Think a 4-8 game season ticket would be ideal. Unfortunately, I dare say dear old LSV will have a say in that one as it would mean a return to voucher books (unless given individual tickets) rather than waving your season ticket, credit card or 1971 Wembley ticket at the girl on the turnstile.

| They need to do something re season tickets as 150 pounds or possibly more is a lot to find in one go and the 3 games you get free isn't enough of an incentive to rush out and buy one for some people and i fully understand that ,i always get one but i would welcome anything that would make it easier say spread the cost as has been suggested or reduce it enough for fans to want to rush out get one

| The idea of season tickets is that along with the benefits for the buyers the club also gets money up front before the season starts, that wont happen with an instalment system.

I think they probably would give a stuff, to be honest, despite the fact that they've already wasted thousands of their own money in having the fancy barcode systems put in place and then not using them at all.

Very true that Reffy as Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec and Jan are not pre season cash flow benefits are they
500 paying £120 in December/Jan or hopefully 1000+ paying £20 a month for 6 months - no brainer for gates and cash flow.

| It's just as cheap to watch Wigan at the Top of Super League.
Perhaps Leigh should look at low contracts with winning pay based on profit from attendances, that way the admission should be kept lower not higher and winning regulary will bring more people through the gate.
Otherwise, there's no incentive to go all out for the win every week.

Funnily enough, I've recently been involved in a debate on flexitickets here
www.totalrl.com/index.php?showtopic=207692
There's obviously a demand, given the poll results, but the trick is to make it attractive to both club and punter. I don't know that selling a four match ticket-book warrants much of a discount. The money's not really received very far up front and there's not much of a commitment from the punter.
I think you need to have a minimum of 10 tickets from the club's point of view and that may well mean that the tickets would need to be valid for more than twelve months to make them attractive to the punter. Or they could be used by anyone. So you could buy ten tickets and use them to take you and your wife. Or your girlfriend. Or both. Just don't let them meet.
Only when someone actually tries this will we have some reaction from both sides.

Think 10 is too many games, as buying a season ticket generally gets 3 'free' games anyroad so it works out the same as buying a season ticket - we need summat to plug that gap so I think 6-8 tickets would be ideal (if people wish to use all 8 at the same game then that's up to them, and it opens up a whole other market in one swoop).

| But if you could use them next season ........
Or share one with the wife ......
It's all about making the club's admin worthwhile. If you're just going to sell tickets to your existing supporters cheaper than you would have done otherwise, what's the point ? There has to be an angle in it for the club.
If it's not a good deal for the club, they won't sell them. If it's not a good deal for the punters, they won't buy them.

| Actually it is since they provide the 'entertainment' (or not) but since the introduction of contracts the spectator does not come into the equation, its cash, cash, and more cash I'm afraid, and its down to the speccies to provide the majority of that.

| Have to disagree there. The players' job is to play to the coach's plan. The coach's job is to win games. It's the job of your management to pull people in through the gate. That might, of course, influence their choice of coach and players.
