great to see a small club like Blackpool making it - average crowds of less than 9,000 this season! Yet they managed to fill half of Wembley today!

How on earth can this happen?

They will get hammered every week and their ground isnt anywhere good enough. I'l hazard a guess their baby changing facilities are poor and they dont have many Blackpool sounding players in their ranks.

They will not be able to pay proper wages and will disgrace the game for a year. United, Chelsea, and Arsenal will put at least 50 on them. Do we want to see this week in week out?

Matt, you might not remember our games with the donkey lashers in the 80's and early 90's - we were big rivals and I see a big day out for both sets of fans. Even though Blackpool is a hovel, I'm looking forward to going there more than any other away game next season. Something different, something 'traditional', and something the RFL have taken away from the sport.

Its the equivalent of Swinton getting in SL and I think its great for the game.

One thing is for sure, a franchise application being delivered to Red Hall would never get the same imagination as nigh on 40000 folk from the same town going down to London for a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Blackpool will obviously be short priced favourites to come straight back down but they will get a massive financial boost which can only improve their capability to do it again.

of the 42 soon to be 43 teams that have played in the Premier League years
the term small town club also applies to Oldham, Swindon, Barnsley, Burnley, Blackburn to name a few.

Blackpool has a population of 142,900. Not including other parts of the Fylde Coast.
whereas Leigh has a population of 43,000.

If you wish to pontificate/procrastinate that much, some in rugby league would refer to Leigh as a small town club, which dont help a Super Dooper league Application.

as for the quality of the ground, please do not be hypocritical about baby changing facilities.
We may have LSV now, but what about the facilities at HP before 2 seasons ago, open air gents toilets and the rest..............
