And thats all you can ask for! I can't remember the last time we looked as up for it as we did in the second half.

When we started winning the collissions by running with conviction widnes struggled to slow us down - as we did with them in the first half. We also started winning the wrestle on the floor.

Hopefully the Aussie can arrive asap to bolster the squad - and i would think it was christmas if we could sign an experienced prop to lead us round.

Moving up at speed and putting pressure on the ball was fantastic.

thats the best we have played for a v long time in mho - think it was the 100% effort that did it for me!

A few things to work on:

Discipline - at times could have cost us.
work on our attack - at times we are still clueless - but a big improvement.
Hobson - work on his fitness and holding the ball - not his biggest fan - hope he makes me eat my words

I agree with most but our discipline was a lot better.

C.Hill was awsome tonight as was everone else............discipline was better but still needs improvement IMO.............ref was guttless (kept going to video ref).

Overall..........A happy Leyther tonight - well done lads.

Just watched game again,Jimmy Taylor was excellent as was Chris Hill,Watson and Maden.Great to get the 1st home league win.

CHRIS HILL. now that is a name to log in all leigh diehards. this lad as and will give all to leigh centurions, absolute workhorse HE IS THE MAN OF THE MATCH majority of games and MUST be the most yards gained in all of the league, he is going to super league MARK THESE WORDS but as been our best forward for atleast 10 years go on debate starts NOW???????

I think he is immense and a vital player for our side but 10 seasons ? not yet. I have said before I would willingly contribute to keep him at our club.

Pound for pound, Chris Hill is the best prop we have had at this club since Derek Pyke.

I think hed be better at second row hes wasted at prop. BTW were was Danny Meekin is he injured???

No chance, we've found in the past that he isn't cut out to play in the second row - he was all the attributes of a top front rower, and he's certainly showing it at the minute.

Discipline was excellent first half (winning the penalty count at 5-3 in the first half IIRC) but we fell to pieces at one stage in the second half, giving away 4 penalties in one set of six

Think I got the final count at summat like 11-8 to Widnes, but I lost count late on

Chris Hill is a rock in the Leigh side, and isnt given the credit he deserves
i for one am proud of the lad, and proud of the fact he is a Leyther, and he is proud to be a Leyther

we have missed Dave Alstead due too injury, but boy he has made up for lost time yesterday, and his attitude was superb, his second try was superb

Maybe Paul Rowley has instilled that little bit of team spirit that may have been missing. Watson suggetsed as much in the post match interview

Definitely got that impression from our performance in the last hour of the game, though I'm sure that was boosted with the support of the crowd.

Just in the middle of watching again and we gave 5 in a row, the 5th when they took the 2 points

I thought that we looked like scoring most of the match which is something thats been lacking of late,even near the end of the match i thought we were in control [ although this did'nt stop me urging the mins to fly by!Well done to the 17 players .

Anybody notice how long it took to get Chris Hill off the pitch?? Taylor was waiting on touchline for at least 5 minutes and Hilly kept askin for one more set! Great attitude... Taylor wasn't happy at not being able to get on either which shows a great enthusiasm to get out there and play for LEIGH!!
