| Durbin is doing what I hoped Hatton would be, taking the attack forward.
McConnel is a grafter who seems to move laterally first and his distribution isnt as good as Durbins.

Rubbish.
Jock's distribution is far better (normally) than Durbins but yesterday he there a few wayward ones after all it was his first game back in two/three weeks and therefore a bit rusty.

Sorry, got to agree with Maurice - Durbin's vision & distribution are normally much better than McConnell's. Agree about they wayward balls yesterday though.

| you can tell after 2 games?
Jocks all round play and distribution was some of the best in the league last year, he has hardly played this, no Durbin is a two out distributor with a flair to attack the line.

| I'll give it a few games before I make my mind up about that one but Durbin plays the game a lot faster than jock and backs up better. On the other hand I wouldn't like to see Jock infront of me if I had the ball. Some of the collision noises when he made tackles yesterday were sickening.

| I'd like to see Durbin play 7 to be honest.
From what I've been told (as I've only been to Wigan game), Watson is far too slow at getting the ball out and we aren't attacking down the flanks enough.

| forget the above question as numbers mean nothing, it should read whats te difference between a stand off and a scrum half in the modern game, before anyone answers, watch a TV game of any english club.

Dead simple, if you look at our squad numbers. Watson is 7, whether he plays 'scrum half' or prop. As for number 6 - well, we haven't got one! (according to the squad numbers, that is)

No, the position on the field, of these two players, seems to depend on who can pass best to the right, or left!

| Scrum half is usually smaller more diminutive and in alot of cases a better ball handler than the stand off and works the dummy half when the hooker is tied up.
I'm sure Fred will disagree lol
Durbin has the look of a scrum half thats all I was thinking and I'm sure he'd affect the play more positively than Watson while still having McConnell on the pitch also.

The debate that is about to start is rapidly catching up with the Lobby and Flute Song ones.

| no not at all its just that different perspective on games is welcome, certain roles in RL have changed and whilst not a lover of squad numbers it just goes to show that numbers on backs mean nothing, granted the 'scrum half' is usually smaller but look at some of the aussies coming through there are a couple of scrum halfs who are six footers +(sorry dont do metric) so even the old fashioned view (or is it?) of your scrum half being a 5'7" terrier will soon have to shift, so what now should they be called 1st and or 2nd recievers? or 1st and/or 2nd distributors, it would be nice to hear a coaches view wheres mr c when you want him? as well as the laymans
It was easier to explain to the kids back in the 80's as players did what their numbers said, not that I ever taught our Dave anything he learned off his grandads, that why he knows so much (thought Id get it in before someone else)

| Is the loose forwards roll more defensive and supportive than inventive then in the modern game? I give you Kevin Sinfield. Not a big lad. His defence is superb and support play is too, but doesn't really make a lot of breaks.
