Do we now have to beat Swinton and Haven to progress?? or could we get through by just winning one of these.

This is Pool 2 as it stands (I think...had to put the latest results in myself)



It's hard to work out how many more points would have you certainly to go through as working out the permiatations with who plays who not being straight forward

Hopwever I would suggest 2 wins is a certain progression for Leigh, 4 points should be enough and 3 might (and probably will) be enough

EDIT - Leigh should obviously be down as played 2 not 1

Top four in each pool qualify. Haven getting tonked has helped us a bit I reckon. At some point today I am sure I will check all the remaining fixtures in our pool to work out a likely scenario. Anywhere in top 4 of the pool will do as the quarters is an open draw. The large points difference against London and the tiny points against last night may also help. All will become crystal clear after this Sunday and hopefully a win against Swinton

Remianing games for each club:

York – Batley, London

Fev – Dewsbury, Workington

Leigh – Swinton, Whitehaven

Dewsbury – Featherstone, Batley, London

Haven – Workington, Leigh

Donny – London, Swinton

Batley – York, Dewsbury

Workington – Whitehaven, Fev, Swinton

Swinton – Leigh, Doncaster, Workington

London – Doncaster, York, Dewsbury

God, I hate this competition.

OK. Here goes.

Doncaster I reckon will end up with 9 points from 4 games
York - 9 points + Batley v York (can't call it)
Haven - 6 points + Leigh v Haven
Leigh - 7 points + Leigh v Haven
Fev - 9 points + Fev v Dewsbury
Dewsbury - 6 points + Fev v Dewsbury, Dewsbury v Batley

In summary, its too close to call because of the way the fixtures have been worked out. The final make up I reckon will be decided by the results of the 4 fixtures I have listed above. I don't think even a win on Sunday will make it cut and dried.

If York beat Batley, Haven beat us, Dewsbury beat Fev or Batley then we will NOT qualify. Its simple isn't it





Equally for Widnes, Barrow away may decide whether they qualify, and they won't have it all their own away v Gateshead. If they lose that one then they will struggle to qualify.

I;d say York and Fev are through now...leaving 2 more spots realistically between Leigh, Whitehaven and Doncaster (unless one of the other teams has a major revival)

From Donny's point of view it helps that Leigh and Haven are playing each other. From Leigh's point of view I;d guess a win v Haven would be enough

ATEOTD I reckon 4 more points should see us through, based on the last 2 games we should be ok against Swinton (they seem to be poor this year) if we can put out a half decent team.

Feasibly in Pool 2 someone who wins 3 games out of 4 may not qualify.

If York beat Batley, Dewsbury win both theirs, they will have 12 points. If Leigh beat Haven they will have 10. You could also end up with Fev on 9 or 10 and Doncaster on 9. Nightmare

All will be made clear around 16-45 a week on Sunday - and not a minute sooner it appears

It's easier working it out this year than last year...that was a nightmare (saying that we progressed having played a game less than everyone else which didn't help..we must be the only team in a sporting cup competition to finish runner up but have a game in hand)

We will beat Swinton and I would hope to beat Haven AT HOME, although in recent years Haven have proved to be our boogy team

I actually think this system is far better than the old one, albeit harder to understand. Think it's largely helped by the fact that it goes straight in to the quarter finals rather than an "everyone but Skolars qualifies" last 16.

If we dont qualify, we ve plenty of free Sundays coming up this season.

If we don't qualify then we might have a rather large hole in the budget, I'd reckon

They have been known to lead us a merry dance sometimes I must admit

It's in our own hands. If we can play like we have done in the last two games I'm confident we can win both games assuming we can put a half decent side out. We've picked up a hell of a lot of injuries in the first two games plus we will have suspensions coming up with Hobson and two incidents on report.

Yeah, unless as has been said the breakeaven on LSV is over 2000, in which case we'll make more money by not playing!

Cant see us not qualifing with what Ive seen so far.
We certainly look a "close" team which IMHO counts a great deal.

I think we will pick up at least 4 points from Swinton and Haven.

8 will be enough irrespective.

The bonus point in this competition and the league, is fair IMHO.

Leigh deserved a point after last weeks performance.

Lets just get the 3 points v Swinton. Hopefully, resting one or two injured players may result in starting the league campaign on a clean bill of health.

I maintain that 8 points will NOT be enough. It is not a true league as everyone doesn't play everyone else. York for example could feasibly end on 4 wins from 4. They already have 6 points and still have London to play and Batley. On form they would also beat Batley. I still think that 4th and 5th place could finish on 9 points with one obviously not qualifying.
