according to the Wig*n council website for week beginning Jan 11th,they will be using a small bin wagon for collections this week and have asked us all to limit ourselves to two black bin bags to be left where the bins should be, I sincerely hope that the poor dears dont strain themselves lifting these bags, what on earth is this council playing at the mind boggles.

the mind boggles ..they have also stated to us that we have to place the bin bags outside before 7 am on the morning of collection .and if they are not collected by 5pm you are to take them back in ....are they having a laugh .

I put our bin out this morning, I hope they've emptied it





If they haven't it'll be another ride to tip,

and permit or no permit they'll be getting our rubbish

It's due to the ice / snow on the roads. The council made a decision last week that it would be too dangerous for the large bin wagons to make all the collections, so as a fall back they will use a smaller wagon (which I assume is not fitted with the automatic bin lifters) to collect 2 nr bags from everybody.

The 7am time is the usual time that you are advised by the council to put your bin outside by. Obviously all the collections won't be at 7am. Again the 5pm time will be the time of the last collections on the day. The council is telling you that if they haven't managed to pick up your rubbish by 5pm then it won't get picked up until the following week, so probably not a good idea to leave the bin bags in the street for a week (HS&E issue).

It's not rocket science really......The council have just put a contingency plan in place.

..wont be leaving bin bags outside for the local cat population to tear up and leave a right royal mess outside ..like the last failed attempt to collect our rubbish ..

We have a collection point in my street, (which is at my back gate because I'm the first house). How are they going to decide which bags to take? If they think they're leaving the remainder at my gate for yet another week they've got another think coming!!

they should have never have given them the week before christmas off with pay to make up next week

The world has gone mad this is the council who insist on H&S and go over the top to enforce it at every given opportunity, yet offer no advice or assistance to our schools when faced with the recent issues, the organisation of their workforce is nothing short of a joke, the solutions they arrive at to solve their problems are pathetic.
They have insisted via email that local schools fulfill their obligation to provide education for the statutory number of days this year, what about their obligation to the council tax payer to provide the services we pay for, if teachers are expected to perform as if nothing has happened why not the other people employed in other council services.

Well I've got a full bin and two bags to go as well cos they've not been for ages. People are obviously going to have more rubbish early in the New Year and I understand about the snow and ice but I'm sure the big waggons are as easy to move around as the smaller ones.

Not sure I understand the logic to be honest. I'm not emptying my bin to take it to the tip unless I get some money back off my council tax the robbing sods

If they are anything like round here they left all the bin bags just emptied the bins.

they came today at quarter to eight picked up the two bin bags,then came again two hours later for the black bins but never came for the papers or the brown bins, they are a council out of work,the words booze up and brewery spring to mind

Let me explain my colleague in the smaller collection vehicle (after carrying out risk assesments and creating method statements) reported that the queens highway around firs park area was now safe to navigate in the bigger collection vehicle. What do they do in countries like Canada and Russia? Lets face it the snow over there is ten times as bad over there

Well they haven't emptied any bins or taken any bags and no excuses re the snow and ice for any wagons or vans as the St. Helens road area is clear! So what's the reason for nothing being collected??

And they assume that every person in the Wigan borough has logged on to their website and read this information and therefore will follow the instructions to the letter? Also, once we have filled our two black bin bags we therefore must stop producing rubbish so will have to stop eating and emptying other items we need to use to live day to day. Clowns the lot of them!
