anyone know if a date has been set for the Fax home game yet?

Not yet. I believe we offered to play this weekend but fax declined as they're on TV Thursday.

....and according to info on the other thread, they wanted to play it the Sunday after our thursday game

Looks like August sometime as we have to squeeze in the semi and final of the NRC.



Re the final I suppose a Leigh v Widnes final would attract a good attendance but can anyone seriously think Widnes are capable of getting there ?

Red faces at Red Hall, on this one. The RFL originally agreed to the game being on this Sunday, but then back-tracked, when someone pointed out a 'forgotten' rule. I kid you not!!

In all honesty, it was just as unfair to ask 'Fax, to play this Sunday, as it was to expect us to play the following Sunday.

I understand Leigh are now searching for a suitable midweek date - like the one after 'Fax get back from Toulouse?! And the RFL can hardly deny that one, as we've already had to play midweek, after our trip to France!

What was the forgotton rule Alan?

To be fair no teams should be expected to play on a Sunday after a Thursday game, especially when your opponents haven't played on the Thursday. A nice summer Wednesday evening match sounds good to me though!

A midweek in July, if such a date exists where one or t'other isn't playing on the following Thursday or Friday!

Wasn't told, but here's the RFL 'Operational Rule' on the subject - curiously they don't allow for teams playing on Thursdays!

If you can understand this lot, well done!



POSTPONEMENTS

B1:17 [iIn case of postponement of a Match, the Match shall, if the Clubs involved so agree or the RFL so directs, be re-arranged for the following Wednesday ("the preferred Wednesday"icon_wink.gif. If, however, at the time of postponement both Clubs have a known free Sunday date prior to the scheduled end of the appropriate competition, the Clubs involved may agree that such Match shall be arranged for that free Sunday instead of the
preferred Wednesday subject always to Board approval. Sunday dates on Cup Tie weekends or weekends allocated for other competitions can be regarded as free only if at the time of the postponement, both Clubs concerned have been dismissed from the Cup or other competitions concerned. In any event, if either Club has a Match on the Friday immediately following the preferred Wednesday, then the postponed Match shall instead be re-arranged for the Monday or Tuesday prior to the preferred Wednesday unless the Club has a game on the Sunday prior to that Monday or Tuesday in which case, thegame shall, if possible (in accordance with the above provisions) be re-arranged to the Wednesday following the preferred Wednesday or so on as necessary until the Match is re-scheduled. If the Clubs wish to agree to play the Match on any date other than a date determined in accordance with the preceding provisions of this Operational Rule B1:15 then both Clubs shall promptly make written submissions to the Board which shall agree thereto or determine the date on which such postponed Match shall be played taking into account all relevant circumstances known to it. Notwithstanding the above the Board in its absolute discretion may order a match to be re-arranged as it, acting reasonably,thinks fit in the circumstances.[/i

In addition to that lot, there is an obscure rule that states that part-time clubs will not be compelled to make long or time-consuming journeys on a day other than Saturday, Sunday, or Public Holidays - perhaps that's the one?

This time, I suspect that the RFL will do the decent thing, having rejected both clubs' sttempts to get one over on the other. All I ask is for all clubs to be treated the same - and in this instance, select a midweek that is equally 'inconvenient' to both Leigh and 'Fax. (even Starbug's suggestion is fine!

No it's not, that's the Championship match. the NRC quarter-final is on Sunday 7th June, kick off 3 p.m. - according to the RFL website.

not really confusing at all is it, halifax away in the league has always been 3rd july, the nrc quarter game has always been 7th june, its the home game against them that is undecided as of yet, simple hey.

Seems to me Alan was simply being polite when responding to an enquiry from a Fax fan.It,s easy to forget that Yorks folk are not as bright as us despite the enormous amount of research that has been done to try to improve their lot.

Thank you, frank! The Halifax club hasn't helped here, as they actually announced (via their website) that the re-arranged game at Leigh was to be on 13th May - the day before we played Widnes! They wish!
