| Leigh East 25-24 Bradford Dudley Hill
Leigh East got their first points of the season after Adam Holland slotted over the winning drop goal.
It was the visitors that took the lead on 7 minutes when Neil
Wall went over and also converted his own try to make it 0-6. East got back on
track on 15 minutes when young winger Josh Giluley went over and with Holland’s
conversion made the score line level at 6-6 but only stayed that way for 5
minutes when Dale Allred broke away to score, Holland converted, 12-6. Sam
Grainey extended Easts lead on 27 minutes in which Holland converted and that seamed to let Leigh East control the
game but Dudley Hill had other plans just before half time when Wall went over
for his 2nd self converted try which brought the score line closer
at 18-10 at the break.
East started stronger in the second half and it took just 4
minutes the extend the lead when Holland
slid through the defence to score and also converted to take the score to a
comfortable 24-10. Bradford Dudley hill were to step it up a gear in the final
third of the game when Kyle Bateman spun over from close range, Wall converted
to make it 24-16 and 8 minutes later they were within 2 points after Elliot
Cousins scored with Wall converting, Wall went on to convert a penalty goal on
76 minutes but East had the last cheer with Adam Holland slotting over the drop
goal in the 79th minute to take the spoils Ryan O’Toole took the
hosts Man of the Match whilst Neil Wall was voted Dudley Hill’s best Player.
Leigh East will now have a short turn around to play Pilkington Recs at home on
Wednesday evening with a 7:30pm
