Some of our older fans will remember Jack Gibson, a quality centre who played for Leigh in the mid-late 50's and beyond. Jack has passed away and will be sadly missed. My particular recollection of Jack was in a semi final of the Challenge Cup at Central Park v. Barrow, it finished 2-2, Brian Fallon dropped a goal for Leigh and Joe Ball got the equaliser when Ted Toohey our stand off was penalised for not playing the ball correctly. The Leigh team that day was Hosking, Chadwick, Atherton, Gibson, Kindon, Toohey, Fallon, Robinson, Tabern, Owen, Hurt, Martyn and Foster - wow what a pack

More recently Jim Fiddler played in the 1971 Cup Final against Leeds and scored the first points in the final with his drop goal. Leigh-Line mentioned a few days ago that Jim had passed away too, after suffering a stroke, no one seems to be able to confirm or deny this. Personally I thought it is the Club's responsibility to find out for sure and post it on their website - this guy has a Wembley winners medal for Leigh, lets find out for sure and give him the recognition he deserves

Jim Fiddler was a particular favourite of mine and was one of those rare rugby people in that he was a prop forward with a good kicking boot, I never saw Mr Gibson play but had heard of him through my dad and father in law, I'm sure all the Leigh Rugby family will mourn their passing.

As some of you will be aware, Jack's Grandson is a close friend of mine. Jack was a lovely man and by all accounts an excellent footballer, your kind words here will be very much appreciated by his family and I will be sure to pass them on.

In yet another tragic loss to his family and friends and our club I am saddened to hear of the passing of club photographer Maurice Jones, I have known Maurice for a good number of years and will miss his long legged running along thwe touchline to get just the perfect picture.

That is two great photographers we have lost in just over a year both very nice men they are sadly missed.

Jack lived opposite my mum and dad since I was a kid, one of the nicest guys you would ever wish to meet.

I remember him telling me in great detail about his hip replacement while he was awake, I must have been 7 at the most and was astonished
