Well way back then in the early fifties Wilkinson St had lots of Polish residents.
Mr and Mrs Laurakeatis for example had six kids and their eldest daughter was Regina.
Mrs Laurakeatis could not pronounce the letter R so she always pronounced R's with a V.
My late mam was very friendly with Mrs Laurakeatis and always chatted to her in English but with a pronounced Polish accent for some reason which always made me my Dad and elder bro chuckle.
One day Mrs Laurakeatis called round very upset as Regina had gone missing.
My mam and her ended up going round the local streets shouting V(Regina) very loudly we collapsed laughing but my mam never understood why.
