Dave had left the pub in Copmanthorpe,York,which was visited by some Featherstone followers and taken over the Cross Keys pub,nearer York city centre.
His wife and daughter were living in Gateshead - daughter still in full-time education as she was when Dave was unfairly dismissed by an individual at Gateshead.
In recent months his wife was taken ill and she could no longer work full time.

Just hope potential investors aren't put off by 'fattism' displayed on forums.Only for the more intelligent of Leigh followers,of course.

TBF the words 'sacked' are very harsh in this case as the York statement shows their were strong reasons behind his 'release' mainly on Dave Wood's side too!

I'm afraid I have to agree.

I think it comes across a bit poor when on the one hand the club is on its knees and we're looking for support, and in the next breath people are taking the mickey for someone being overweight. No doubt it it was said in jest and no harm was intended but I don't think it come across very well.

Besides, Dave Woods seems to have done a good job over the past few years at the clubs he's been to. Certainly a record not to be sniffed at.

I must be honest and say that I was stood near the dugouts at a reserve game the other year against York and Woods did not come across well at all, even making a joke about a Leigh player whilst injured on the floor, so I flat out don't rate the bloke based on that experience.
