Leigh Miners Rangers entertain Wigan St Judes on Friday night, 7-30pm kick off at Twist Lane. Miners will be looking to make it four wins on the bounce after winning there last three matches which as seen them move up to second in the NCL table, victory on Friday will put them on top for at least 24 hours before current leaders Siddal travel to Hull Dockers on Saturday afternoon. Judes have struggled the last couple of weeks with heavy defeats against East and West Hull but will be looking to keep up there unbeaten record against local sides this season with good wins against Leigh East, Thatto Heath and Wigan St Pats. Friday night will also see the official opening of the new changing rooms at the club.

Leigh Miners made it four wins in a row with a 46-22 victory against Wigan St Judes in last nights local derby, It was all Judes in the opening few minutes as they forced three repeats sets as they was camped on the Miners line, but with the host defending strongly Judes could find no way over the whitewash. When Miners got the ball they went forward strongly and got there rewards mid way through the first quarter, full back Leon Brennan breaking down the left to score in the corner, Tom Bradbury converting to give the home side a 6-0 lead. Soon after Miners hit Judes with a quick double, Martin Lewis scoring under the sticks, that was followed with Tom Eckersley breaking during the next set from the restart to send Ryan Smith into score, Bradbury converting both to give the host a 18-0 advantage. St Judes got themselves on the scoreboard with a try in the right corner but from the restart the Wigan side spilled the ball on the second tackle and that allowed young winger Hayden Bud Skinkis to kick the ball through to score, Bradbury again converting to give the score 24-6 in Miners favour at the half time break.
Miners took control of the game early in the second half when Tom Bradbury barged over to score followed by a second try for winger Bud Skinkis, Bradbury landing one conversion to put Miners in control at 34-6, Judes hit back with there second try of the game but once again from the restart they spilled the ball in there own 20 and that allowed Scott O’Brien to step is way through to score and give the home side a 28 point cushion at 40-12. Judes rallied in the final quarter to score two tries late on to bring the score to 40-22 but it was Miners who had the final say in the last couple of minutes Mom Scott O’Brien putting centre John Woods through a gap to score, Bradbury landing his seventh conversion to give Miners a well deserved 46-22 victory.
Next week Miners are away at East Hull.
