Why is now the time to show support as opposed to the rest of the season? Most posters on here have supported the team regularly all season and there are hardly any new faces going to come at this late stage when the fare served up on the field is not a patch on the first half of the season.
Quote="DemonUK"I didn't but I didn't applaud either. When you pay that much money to get in, ie when you contribute towards the players wages, you are entitled to an opinion.'"
But musn't your opinion have to toe the party line to be valid?
I dont think any team goes out to lose or doesnt try,we played terrible on Sunday,i would think even the players would acknowledge that,i never leave early, but still think im entitled to show my oppinions whether i applaud or not at the end ,i think Warren Jowett the Dews coach and theDews players are not getting the acclaims they deserve,we were well beaten,by a better team on the day, mostly by the one thing we lack SPEED.
Of course the diehards must, and will, continue to support the club. The problem is that all that does is enable us to go sideways at best. To go forward you have to increase the fan base quite significantly. It is so frustrating that these rallying cries are almost always followed by the most pathetic of performances. You can hardly blame people for staying away - they (and we) wouldn't really want to watch that stuff for free!
Having said that, the crowd was pitiful anyway before the result was known - perhaps the result was expected then!
I am afraid I do not have the answer to why our performances are so inconsistent - yes to some extent you can only play as well as the opposition allows you to - but by the same token why aren't we the ones setting the tone and the pace of the game? What we need is 2 or 3 years of performances that are consistent across the season and winning trophies or making the finals at least..
but I have to say that I do not see us being a SL club in the future.
well what was the attendance after Ians & the clubs "rallying cry"? were their many new faces, i thought i saw it posted about 1600 mark, if so that doesnt strike me as much of an improvment on numbers , perhaps a good thing given the performance on the day. Snowy posted a thread quite a while ago now asking the question as to were we a one trick pony and was jumped on by many who post on here as being unfair a qiuck to stick the knife in but in hindsite i wonder how many fans can now see what Snowy was worried about ( just cus he looks like a no brainer doesnt mean he is
