Leigh Miners travel to Humberside tomorrow were the play Skirlaugh in the Elimination Semi Final knowing victory will take them eighty minutes away from a place in the 2010 NCL Grand Final. After last weeks excellent performance away at Wath Brow miners travel to Hull full of confidence and will be looking to gain there first victory against Skirlaugh this season after losing at Twist Lane 24-16 at the start of the season and 16-0 a few weeks back at Skirlaugh. A win for miners will see them play the loser of tomorrow's Qualifying Semi Final between Leigh East and Siddal next weekend.

SKIRLAUGH 12 V 27 LEIGH MINERS

Leigh Miners moved in within eighty minutes of the NCL Grand Final after another excellent performance against Skirlaugh to set up a Final Eliminator clash next weekend against champions Siddal. Miners opened the scoring early in the game when Leon Brennan collected a nicely weighted kick to score out wide to give miners a 4-0 lead. Skirlaugh applied alot of pressure on the miners line during the next 15 minutes but strong enthusiastic defence kept the home side out. Miners increased there lead with a Jonny Youds penalty goal to give them a 6-0 lead. The final points of the half was scored by the visitors with Darryl Kay breaking the line to send Ryan Smith under the posts, Youds converting giving miners a deserved 12-0 half time advantage.

Jonny Youds opened the scoring in the second half with a penalty goal before breaking the line with about 20 minutes left to send Ryan Smith in for his second of the game, the kick converted to put miners into a 20-0 lead. The next few minutes were all Skirlaugh as miners switched off they scored two quick fire tries to put them within eight points at 20-12. With time running out for the home side the tie was put to bed when Scott O'Brien stepped is way through the skirlaugh defence to score at the side of the post, Youds converting giving miners a lead of fourteen points at 26-12. O'Brien added a late drop goal to give miners a 27-12 victory, and they now go into next weeks clash with Siddal full of confidence after two excellent playoff victories and the chance to set up an all Leigh Grand Final in two weeks time.
