East Hull 16 v 37 Leigh Miners
After two successive defeats Leigh Miners got back to winning ways with a great 37-16 victory away at East Hull, miners had the best possible start when 2nd rower Martin Wilson broke clear to send Liam Coleman in for the opening try of the game, Coleman converting giving the visitors a 6-0 lead. Easts brought the score level 10 minutes later ater a neat kick through east scored under the post, try converted score 6-6. The host took the lead a few minutes later after a chip kick was gathered with good support scoring under the post giving East Hull a 12-6 advantage. The score was once again brought level after miners scrum half David Rolt broke clear to send Anthony Nicholson into score, coleman converting 12-12.Miners continued to apply pressure on easts line and got the breakthrough right on half time when David Rolt darted over from close range, coleman once again adding the extras giving the half time score 18-12 to the visitors.
Miners made a great start to the second half when Dave Rolt pounced on his own grubber kick through to grab his second of the game, coleman kicking from outwide giving miners a 24-12 lead. 10 minutes later miners added to there lead when Rolt sent in centre Lee Gittins to finish from 30 yards out to score under the post, score 30-12. The game was wrapped up with 12 to go when Anthony Nicholson intercepted to go the length of the field to grab his second try of the game, coleman keepiong his 100% record with the boot giving miners a commanding 36-12 lead. Easts grabbed a late consulation try before miners finished the scoring when Rolt capped a fine performance with a late drop goal giving miners a fantastic 37-16 victory on humberside.
Next week Miners will have another tough test when champions Siddal visit Twist Lane 2-30 kick off.
