I don't know if u saw the article in the Journal this week about us having a fund raising weekend for the soldiers injured in combat 'help the hero's' at the avenue over friday, saturday, sunday. The Friday night we have a lobby cooking competition and contacted via telephone and e-mail Dave Bradshaw to see if the club cud send a player to be a judge of the competition, he assured us this wud be no problem and wished us luck for the weekend.
We rang to confirm the name of the player and we were informed that Paul Rowley said that with a game on the Monday no players were to be in a pub before an important game.
This is not as if we're asking the players to cum in and drink 10-15 pints and then go outside and have a brawl, its for a good cause the games two days away and surely there are players who are unavaliable due to injuries or suspension?
Leigh are after the support of local businesses as well as local people, this really isnt the way to go about gaining local support.

Don't think there are any players suspended. Its a tricky one. Fair play to the coach for wanting his players to be in the best condition for such an important game. But as you say there must be some players who are either not going to be selected or are injured and perhaps they could come along.

Having said that, unless the players are full-time I am not sure it is reasonable to expect them to "work" out of hours...

My point is im sure somebody cud have made an effort for 2hrs max, i dont believe that every player will be tucked up in bed by 9p.m. Academy players, anybody cud have been sent to tell us yes then not even tell us nobody will be being sent is out of order this was a charity event arranged primarily by a young army officer who was trying to raise money for a friend he served with

Bit of a political thing that perhaps a rugby club may not wish to get involved with! Not like a charity for poorly kids is it?

in keeping players focused for the next two games , blimey just think if he sent Hobson along the Yorky would eat all the Lobby on show before it had time to be judged

there's a couple of good 'uns amongst them
