The disappointment is we offered the most money for Tompkins Williams and Barba....what does it say about out club when none of them would sign?

If you wanted the best chance of winning things you would sign for Wigan, Leeds, Saints, Hull before us.

It makes you wonder what is being said about our club between the players.

No way would Tomkins nor Williams sign for anyone in SL other than Wigan given that the salary offers could not be that far apart given the salary cap. Barba is a different case but the coach seemed to be a factor for him.

It has to be accepted, though, that several teams have more obvious appeal to Aus/NZ stars as they've enjoyed regular success over twenty years rather than sporadic success over eight years.

We can scour the world for a half back for 20 years and i still don't think we'd sign the right person. For me it's not about a half back coming in and dictating plays and suddenly we're a well oiled machine. The coaching/tactics this season seem to be more the main factor to our downfall. If you watch us in attack our back line is flat, we have no space to move or create chances. There is no chance of pulling off a double off. The amount of times teams just track Ratchford joining the line as the 3rd pivot and then tackling him as soon as the pass goes out is worrying. A half back hasn't got the time to tell each player where they should stand as a play of the ball happens, it should be instinctive/coached into everyone.

Add this to the pack under performing and inconsistent squad choices and recruitment (how many 1 year contracts have we had in the last 3-4 years?) and you have to worry that any half back is going to struggle to create chances.

It's right that we look for that spark because Brown has been a poor stop gap, however, unless we sort out or structure and momentum, said spark will soon become frustrated, and either try to overplay and cause unforced errors or become frustrated and another mediocre player.

Spot on, we've been doing this for a couple of seasons now and it's really frustrating.

Funny how we bring in a decent centre who will run the angle and Brown plays better. I actually feel sorry for the guy playing inside Jack Hughes must be so frustrating as his direct running resembles a crab. Buy a good running 2nd row to team up with Hiku and brown will show his best game.

Rugby is a team game & until the last 4 or 5 games we haven't played like a team so there hasn't been a chance for anyone to shine. Have we suddenly come up with a new coaching structure or has the "team" abandoned its communal titty lip & decided to play like a team at last ?
