THAT HULL GAME

The GF's both of them.

Getting beat at the old Wembley by Wigan, i was a young lad and cried, especially as i went to school with 99.9% Wigan supporters, a lot of friends are pie fans.

Not quite game related but when i heard Mike Gregory had died, that was a proper kick in the b-ll-cks

Getting beat by Widnes at home 2014 when they had cahill sent off for his tackle on hodgson.

Horrible game. I've never seen us so vulnerable. Unfortunately the stains always have that over us.

Fortunately though, I can't think of any sporting ground where there is a statue of a manager taking the side down. Theres not a Brendon Rodgers statue outside Anfield, or David Moyes statue outside Old Trafford. We should buy the Kieran Cunningham statue (salary cap permitted) and place him outside the Wire ground and say 'thanks for doing a wonderful job'.

The last gasp cuningham try, still hurts when I see it. Several Sean long drop goals. Just bloody saints defeats really. The Huddersfield sit in at wilderspool. And the 80-0 regal game.

I was at all those defeats at the hands of Saints, including the 80-0 game.

But my very worst Wire moment has to be the defeat by Leeds in the Semi in 2011. It took months for me to get over that. I was numb for about a week.

Losing 84 - 12 to Bradford in 2001, Ian Knott and Jon Clarke in the half's against Henry and Robbie Paul (Briers on the bench). Anthony Swann was absolutely awful.

A few weeks previously we beat them 18 - 14 with Paul Darbyshire in charge, with just over 4,000 of us in the ground. I remember Stevo saying "The Warrington fans are going bananas" for the Rob Smyth winning try.

Any match at Knowsley Road, but even more gutting when we were actually close. The match where Bridge tried a daft kick through, then Long kicks the drop goal.
2000 - Wakefield away, they were going for a penalty to level the match. McNamara missed and it was going to Busby who just needed to get it out of play, he dropped it and Wakefield scored to win. Belle Vue used to be quite a bogey ground for us.

2013 - CC Semi Final losing to Hull FC and then watching their poor performance in the final, could also say the same for 2015 for Hull KR.

1993 - Being cheated out of the league through an awful refereeing decision by Russell Smith.

Don't you mean 2014?. In 2011 we went out to Wigan in the Quarter Finals.

These all stick in the mind as being particularly terrible....and memories of events like these make success even sweeter.

No i do mean 2011 , I'm referring to the play off semi when James Child flagged Richie Myler offside at the play the ball and Sinfield kicked the penalty to win by 2 points.

That was heartbreaking that. Still makes me cry thinking about it

The atmosphere and banter in the crowd during that 80-0 disaster was actually really good. Weirdly I quite enjoyed it.

I don't think I'll ever get that 80-0 out of my head I felt physically sick.. I left with 20 mins to go I very very rarely leave before the end of a game... I wish I'd left at half time of that one..

Yeah we left around the 60 minute mark and listened to the radio commentary on the way home, all you could here was.. 'and they're in again' did become quite funny in the end, in a gallows humour type of way.

I remember this at one of the next Saints games after that, we had an amazing atmosphere at Knowsley Road and went absolutely bonkers when we scored a try about 65 minutes in (to their ~10 tries). I really enjoyed that, in a weird way.

That 2011 playoff defeat was incredibly painful, as was the GF loss to Wigan after losing Monahgan and Ratchford. The GF against Leeds I was fine with, they were clearly the better team, but the way we played against Wigan it felt like we'd have likely won it without the injuries...

Also, every Saints loss between September 2002 and July 2004, when I was at sixth form less than half a mile from Knowsley Road. I was the only Wire fan in the place to have the guts to wear the shirt after those losses, painful as it was.

- Losing to Widnes at home to 12 men. That tackle on Hodgson was sickening, was very worried about him.

- 0-80 against Saints

- Losing the league to Wigan '93.

- The sinking feeling when Monas went off and Wigan scored, then knowing that we were going to lose the GF after Ratch went off. Watching that unfold was agonising.

Seeing Hodgson and Waterhouse walking around the touchline in their suits whilst the team were warming up before the 2013 GF. Those two play and we win, injuries or no injuries.

But...Hodgson wasn't injured.

Yes, I know. Jeez, don't get me started on that, it still haunts me now
