| Both Wire and Wigan suffer the effects of a very tough CC game the week before, both with loses.
You won't like this but I'd pull Austin out at Magic, we don't need to win it and we can't afford another knackered team vs KR in the cup.
We don't need Austin busted in the ribs or Clark wearing a head aid.
The 1/4 final would be my attention.

| I am slightly concerned though, that, with our large outlay and supposed quality in the ranks, we are getting outplayed or matched by teams with supposed lesser playing rosters (Hull have a good side though).
Also, with our spend on players, should we be content with being a competitive 2nd in a generally weaker league, bar saints.
Lastly, I reckon Wigan will beat us this weekend, unfortunately by 16+ if we don’t change things. They’ll whack us down the middle, they’ll be more aggressive in defence, and lay the platform for their backs. I think greenwood will be a big miss for them in the forwards though and the return of Lineham will boost our chances.

| We're playing a season Gaz effectively with 1 quality halfback and 2 out and out props.
The hard years go when we sub Hill and Cooper.

| Quote ="lummy"I think the main difference to the last 2 games was that Hull had a pack that match up this time. Taylor been carrying this pack for months but now Mickey Paea has finally stepped up and we have the luxury of Green ( vastly underated) to come off the bench having missed nearly a year. Westy is fully fit now and stiffens up the middle and played the full 80. We werent steamrolled this time by your front row. Then we had enough nous through Sneyd n Kelly to manage us through. Think the bottom line was - we wanted it more.
Re gamesmanship - I was staggered by the amount of time your assistant coach was on the pitch, never seemed to be off. Not noticed that before with an assistant coach.'"
you had plenty of time to notice him, because of all the stoppages due to injured hull players,

We should make an offer for the Hull physio.
The amount of time he managed to bring umpteen injured Hull players back into the game after he had treated them was brilliant.

| Wigan will do us on Saturday because they now know how to! Either Clubb or Flower will put big hit's on Austin whether legal or not and put him out of the game, without him we are rudderless!

| I'm sure Austin was targeted in virtually every match in the NRL, he's a big boy so get on with it.
What did for us in the cup game was Wigan continually getting away with third man into the tackle and slowing the ptb down to snail on crutches speed.
Do I think they'll do us? If we have Mamo and Lineham back and get the team selection right then no, if we have the same back rowers and halfbacks then yes.

| Agreed Morrisey
Lineham is a big game player.
We miss him when he isn't in the team.
Would you play Mamo at centre or fb though?
Think I'd go Mamo at fullback and leave Goodwin with Lineham.
I'd bring Livett in for Currie too.
Currie looks out of his depth at SL level currently...a week off then a month at Rochdale might help his confidence and find that super talent again.
Patton is at last chance saloon now. He puts some quality kicks and passes in, but it's not enough. He needs to take it on, and go for broke.
His instructions are to make space for Austin, well atm Austin is struggling... When Patton crosses that white line on the pitch, it's about him, not Price...feck Price and do your thing. If your going down, you go down proving and fighting.
Patton hasn't done this and that is the most disappointing thing for me this season. I'm not getting drawn into the social media slagging of the lad, he has talent but seemingly not the balls...
He should emulate Brad Dwyer, he doesn't have much talent, but his gritty, fighty and has the balls to back himself...in a way Kurt Gidley earned credit over his career. (Yes not at that level, but in a similar vein)

Assuming you rate Austin - just when did you do the big volte-face on Patton?

| Which other SL clubs would Patton be a starting half back for? I can't think of any bar the exception of possibly London.
It's becoming easy for teams at the minute to play against us. All they have to do is mark Austin out of the game. Patton offers nothing barring the odd decent pass now and then again. With his small size as well it's not even like he has that injection of pace of the mark to create, like the likes of Burrow or Tomkins etc possessed.
I'm nowhere near Kev Brown's biggest fan and have been very critical about him in the past but there's a reason the club are rushing him back from injury and I can't wait to have him back.

So where does Ratchford fit into your grand plan if you’re keeping Patton on and putting Mamo at FB?

| Patton back in only because Ratchford is out injured.
Otherwise it would be Austin and Ratchford.
Said it so often...a big good un always beats a small good un.
Patton is on a lucky last chance for him....he needs to step up now and just do it.
BTW....I'm not pro Patton.... I've always been pro my team and always saying Ratchford should be in the position he can get his hands on the ball.
Personally it's half back but if Price sees it as full back, so be it.
I've always has that view.
Patton has it in him....he isn't taking a risk though. Nobody wins anything playing it safe... like I said....that is my disappointment in him.
He's going to get another month at hb I don't think he'd have had, had Ratchford not got injured. It's up to him now.

He wouldn't start at any side aiming to compete in the playoff's, nevermind win the SL that's for sure.
I too am hoping that Kev's structured play and organisation will allow more freedom for Austin's 'off the cuff' style. Even then I think we are an effective, big minute prop light.

They were flat out against a poor Wire performance.
Wire would be putting 60 on Hull today.
