But you said in another thread Wire WILL win this match.On what basis did you come to that conclusion but I do love your optimism even though a little barmy at times.

We don't seem to have any intensity/aggression or drive in the forwards bar Hill and Simms. Our attacks in the backs lack any pace, angles and Dummy runners and there is no-one on the field to lead the side. Our back row looks incredibly average and our halves look directionless.And we've lost all confidence. Apart from that, we're a great side.

Ratchford - appalling, as a defensive full back
Ormsby - No more a SL standard winger, than me. Bang average at best, bar scoring an acrobatic try
T King - Injured, again. Rhys Evans has competition
Atkins - Just go, please
Monaghan - A shadow of the player he was, only a year ago
Bridge - Call the cops. Missing person. Reward given.
Patten - Out of his depth at the moment
Hill - His usual standard. Superb (mostly)
Clark - Thieving a wage for what we were expecting
Sims - Fair effort
Westwood - At times, the game passed him by. Gone back to his "form" of last year.
Laithwaite. The dictionary definition of average. The new Mitchell.
Harrison. Stalagatites move quicker

He didn't. I was more disappointed with Ratchford's effort than anyone.

So the combination with Bridge never happened.
Bridge doesn't really have a good kicking game, he relies on his own strength and support, he had no support and as such was as useless as the rest bar Hill and Sims.

Patton was well out of depth. His kicking options was unbelievably poor. He kicked deep into the FB/wingers hands over and over, whereas Kelly chose to kick very high lingering bombs.

We basically have 2 players that look half decent. The rest are either over the hill, not good enough or not trying.

Complete overhaul needed for me.

When you start to put aside the annoyance after a performance like that, you have to admit we played poorly and we have problems. As much as you would like those to be simple and all the fault of one or two people, it's rarely the case. But the guy who has to carry the can is TS - even if it's not directly his fault, the buck has to stop somewhere.

I am wondering if Smith is very good with talented, experienced players who really only require motivation / tweaking, but less good with inexperienced younger players who need much more structure in order to assist their progress and development. At both Leeds and Warrington TS started with a nucleus of underperforming, experience and got the very best out of them. Currently he is having to rebuild a top 4 side and has 6-7 youngsters in the team most weeks. We know he has a 'hands off' approach to management, and this style of coaching may simply not be the most appropriate for the current age group. Yes, there are many other factors e.g. we have players underperforming (Clark), we have bad recruitment (Asotasi), we have too many injuries, and we have a thin squad (Woody not replaced, Higham leaving), but we might need a Daryl Powell atm rather than a Tony Smith.

After previous recruitment,,, I'm very weary of giving smith more money get sacked next season,,and another year of tosh,, it's now time for new ideas ,, this team just missed out last year,, only difference,,, agar, his squash partner,, it's not working,, we have gone past the point of a turnaround,, if God forbid Leigh games goes Pete tong,, smith and agar must go,,,

If there's anything we can take from this game...it's that it truly showed every fault we have clearly.
Like has been said Smiths close match interview was even more embarrassing to watch than much of the second half.

I said weeks ago that this was a very ordinary side. I think that may have overstated that fact as we cannot even do the basics right,

Time for sweeping changes including the coaching staff. Shame it has come to this.

Tony Smith is akin to Ian Millward.
They can steer a ship but cannot build one.

Your recruitment and retention has been terrible. Surely you must be well below the saalry cap with the squad you have?

We 'famously' play off the cuff rugby..........and it doesn't work without a player of exceptional talent & vision like Briers. He quit years ago and Smith has no other ideas.

Smith is not a coach and neither is Agar. All smith does is let the players play to their skills, it's just that none of them seem to have any!! Sorry Tony, but time is up.

its like watching a sad old punch drunk boxer have one last shot at the moment. Nothing in attack...I mean nothing...no options..no effort to make dummy runs, terrible kicking game (Rocky turner would do a job in this team) and the defence is none existent, soft. Something is fundamentally wrong with this team at the moment...I can only think Smith has lost the dressing room because they are not bending their backs and trying.

I've said before we've lost Solamona King Anderson Morley Carvell Cooper Hodgson Briers MMonaghan (even Wood was our top metre maker when all these were playing well for us) Higham...Grix is forever injured, Harrison is not the same as he used to be and Weetwood and JMonaghan are shadows of their former selves.

And we've only brought in Hill Ratchford and Clark at the level of those players (two of which were very poor tonight), a load of kids who are still learning the game (some of which will become good players for us, some of which will not see many more years with us because they aren't good enough), and some very poor players brought in as well.

That turnaround in quality is huge!

Is that because the money was put in for us from 2008 onwards to win CCs LLSs GFs and WCCs but we underachieved and the money isn't there for another drive at those four trophies again? Is it just poor recruitment? Or is what we're looking at now poor coaching? Are the young lads under performing and should be doing more despite their age?

Genuine question. Does Briers spend as much time on the pitch every week as he did tonight? I thought he had come out of retirement

I think it's fair to say that Chris Chester has got just the right mix of players to be effective & their main advantages tonight were a desire to win & more skill in key positions. As for us ,is there any camaraderie in the camp any more ? We used to enter & leave the field as a group but all that is history now. I find it hard to see where our next win will come from especially with confidence at rock bottom & especially when it seems that 11 other teams have bought into the "every second counts" slogan more than the Wire.

Something is seriously wrong at the club. Players are just not interested. The team at Bewsey School had more pride. Without doubt this team will be competing for the relegation play offs because after tonight's performance they are probably the worst team in the Super League on a par with Wakefield

He certainly did last week at Huddersfield. He was even directing play at times.

Briers has been our best half back this season.

Not a motivated team. Coming off the defensive line in ones and twos, not as a unit as they did against Leeds. No confidence in themselves or each other in attack or defence. Clark will do a Shenton after his move to Saints - struggle - and the move back to Cas to be a big fish in a small pond. New assistant coach, Agar, and a new fitness coach, and we look exhausted.
Wholesale changes needed, especially in the coaching and management team. Anybody got Daryl Powell's number? I need directions to Featherstone et al for the rest of the season.
