there's a difference between 'a desire to win' and cheating or dirty play - he's becoming a nasty piece of work on the field and is losing the respect of many neutral fans IMO

The situation was started by Tomkins. There was no assault by Benny. If we are to go down that line it would give players like Tomkins a licence to wind up the opposition in an attempt to get them sent off. Tomkins is playing a dangerous game, very shortly he will try it on with someone and finish up with a good hiding.

Unless I'm mistaken the rules do not allow a player to retaliate to being "wound up". If it did--as you clearly think it should--it would give players a licence to start punch-ups then later claim that they were being wound up. Use your noggin!

With the comments that you've put on here and on The Virtual Terrace I'm starting to think that you didn't even watch the game last night. When I say that Tomkins is 'winding up' players, I should have said that he was doing it by using foul play. Everyone else appears to have understood this apart from you. If he wasn't using foul play then why did he get penalised (I think I already know your answer to that one)? Suggest that you use your noggin and admit you were beaten fair and square.
