Maybe, but it was at the end of the game and he should never have been put in that position in the first place as the defence around the ruck was dreadful. The defence was generally poor today and Hodgson had to do a lot more work than normal. I thought Hodgson was one of our better players today (not saying much, I know), he threw some great passes, just a shame nobody seems able to catch a cold at the moment. It was the performance of some of the players rested on Thursday like Morley and those who've been poor all season like Carvell and Wood is more concerning.

Still, they haven't become a poor team overnight. It's just bad form and if they start cutting out the penalties and passes start to stick, I think it'll turn around.

I think the heat and conditions had an effect. Hodgson looked compeltely knacked towards the end and some of the tackles we fell off we really suprising.

TS and SM made the right call buying loads of octogenarians in to gather some short-term "success," but in the mid-to-long term you're going to suffer because the Hodgsons, Briers and Morleys of the world can't hack the pace week in week out and your youngsters aren't good enough.

You lost to an inform saints team and away at catalan, hardly a crisis in my opinion. As you know from last year the league is just a qualifying system for the playoffs. Its a more competitive league this year with 7 teams in with a shot of winning the GF.

Would that be the same leeds team that won the Grand Final reached the Challenge Cup Final? Hardly a team cruising along living on past glories in my opinion.

Far be it for me to bring it back to a logical debate, but does anyone have (its a long shot) actual average ages of the teams from this weekend/super league? I know Wire have some old stagers like Morley/Briers/Hodgson, but then surely there are a lot of younger players too like yours Atkins, Myler, Dwyer, Hill, and co of the world?

I dont think age is neccessarily the reason you lost, more the fact that the game plan seemed to go out of the window and that caused frustration. Catalans is no easy place to go.
