You'll have to ask KF, RD. If it was down to me, I'd have already fired DP with six games to go of last season.

Simple answer is no.
We said he had 6 games to cement his job.
We didn't play particularly well. but the resolve was there to grind the result out.
Its the same stuff. Week in week out and its worse than anything a price squad gave.

All to easy to blame Powell for this there were 13 men on the pitch and only 2/3 can hold their head up high after today's game but it was clearly all on Powell he was forcing passes dropping balls and missing tackles...I'm not defending Powell but it's just a cop out to blame the coach for the players inability to Handle the pressure. Infant I'm sure at half time that he told the players more of the same !!
'"
Any coaches raison d'etre is to ensure the correctly assembled players are in the best physical and mental preparation with the skills and abilities to ensure they perform at their best during an 80 minute window. This isn't happening.
I'm publicly neutral on Powell.

Obviously not, but it’s important that the context is brought into these decisions, like it or not.
11 from 15, second in the table sounds like a nice place to be. And it could be, but need to despatch Cas and Leeds in the next two to relieve some of the pressure before we have to face Saints and Wigan again. Which is important, as I don’t think we’ve beaten either of them since Price was here (who did it with relative regularity).
However, if we actually look behind us on the table, 2 points behind us are Salford and Leigh, with Saints likely to catch them when they play the game in hand and Wigan only 4 behind. Realistically, based on the current form, we could beat Cas, Leeds are up and down but winnable but lose the next two and end up being sixth.
Is 6th enough leading into a the run in? Or would we be a bit too nervous with Hull KR on the heels. Missing the playoffs would be completely unacceptable

We may make the play offs but in my view we aint going to compete in them nevermind win a GF. I'm going to make it easy on myself and keep expectations as low as possible whilst still retaining a passive interest. We couldnt win a GF in the 2011-2014 years when the team was vastly superior to this current one.

| In isolation today's result whilst massively dissapointing isn't a total disaster. The trouble is there have been too many poor performances over the past couple of months. If mcguire has actually gone and mikeale also then we need to be recruiting, now, our forward pack looks a little thin and they won't be in good shape as the season goes on if they're being flogged.
I don't think Powell should be facing the sack right now, BUT we absolutely need to be seeing an upturn in performance in the next couple of weeks. Set completion, game management, tactical kicking, defence and a pretty toothless attack at the minute, its pretty unacceptable that these areas aren't getting sorted.

I beg to differ. That was an absolute car crash of a performance, and all the failures you cite have been happening and perpetrated by the same players for over two months now.
Sacking Powell might not be the answer but Matautia, Dufty, Dudson especially have been on thin ice for some time - Powell needs to swing the axe.

| Doesn't really seem as though we disagree. We have had a lot of good individual performances recently but we uavent had a good team performance for ages. I'm with you on mata'utia if we talk him out of retirement it will absolutely stink to me. Dudson has been alright, dufty has blown very cold recently though.
Errors are killing us, it looks like we don't know each other too often.

We have been off the pace for a long time now. Despite all those marquee signings, all that full salary cap, all the marketing hype, all the new ideas, all that expectation, and 3 coaches we have 1 piece of silverwear in 11 long years.

| The most annoying thing for me, for all the money spent on reinventing this team, our best player is Josh Thewlis and we are playing him out of position and readily dropping him. Last year for Wrench (centre/SR) and Minikin (centre) and this year for Russell and again Wrench.
Behind that, Ashton, Walker and Wrench are bright sparks too, all pre-dating the need to cull. The only players here on the back of the current regime’s recruiting that is delivering to the required standard are Vaughan and you could argue Kasiano and Harrison in spells.

| Got to say that it was poor today and what worries me most about this performance is the complacent attitude of our players. They thought, with 1 man down, that the game was won. I think Powell and the players need a hig performance next game to appease the fans who are rightly concerned now given our form over the past 2 months.
I'm still Powell in as I believe he needs the opportunity to turn things around, but I also empathise with those who are disillusioned and want change. If he were to be sacked now, then we'll never truly know whether he was the right choice.

Genuine question, no trolling or petty nonsense.
Based on what you have seen so far, from the appointment in April 2021 through to today, should he get a contract renewal at the end of the season, or should the club be looking for replacements?

I'd say he should be given to at least the end of the season to turn things around. If it's still like this around the playoff time, then I would support the club if they wished to change manager. I think, at this point, he has just about enough credit in the bank.
I'm also getting a bit concerned with the performances of Paul Vaughan who doesn't seem the same. Big game next week.

| Thewlis is clearly a rugby player, he will be an excellent super league player for a top side. Anyone can see this. Powell likes to keep him on the periphery and sign a full back when Thewlis should be nailing that spot as his own for a decade. I conclude Daryl Powell is out of his depth. Get gone.
Let’s not forget Cooper Hill and Clark forced out (SLs best front row) and the likes of Minkin, Russell and now Dwyer brought in. Has he got money on us getting worse? Buffoon and a buffoon board.

Maybe don’t flog Vaughan for 60 mins when he’s clearly having a stinker then? Would you have persisted with him today as a coach?
