| Quote ="The Wood"My thoughts are;
We had a good start. In the first 20 mins we looked like running out comfortable winners. However, the cracks appeared in the second 20 mins of the first half. A try just before half time would have put an ounce of doubt in the KR mindset.
Dobson kicked us to death. Every time they got within our 20m zone they looked like scoring. As a result, field possession was vital, and penalty after penalty got them in our half immediately. We had more than enough chances to take the game ourselves, but almost everything we did was either stopped by the KR defence or we threw the chance away.
However, to play like we did and still keep it close until the final play of the game proves either one of two things. Either KR had an off day, or we played very well considering we were missing three key players. Two of which are on very good form of late.
Looking ahead, Featherstone shouldn't be a problem. But then the next two games could make or break our league season. 2/2 wins against Hull FC and Wigan before the CCQF will not only be difficult, but both games are winable on our present form.'"
a lot on this thread keep banging on about our penalty awards, when in fact you got more penalties than us, we just used them better.

Horlicks to that.
I think we would have won with one more first choice prop, be that morley or wood.
Bridge and Monaghan were decent enough IMO.

Apart from when Hudds thumped us, I would say this was our least impressive performance this season, we are a lot better when on song, as you are I am sure.

As was Bridge's poor decision making at crucial times. I think we should stop pretending he can play halfback and concentrate on making him into the very decent centre he clearly has the potential to be. Every break he made and decent pass he made on Sunday were from the centre position.

The Hull KR kicking game wasn't much better tho was it, the game was lost due to ill-discipline not because Briers wasn't there, plus the Briers kicking game isn't much better anyway.

| I did think we coped quite well without Briers - we managed to score 28 points after all. Monas I thought stepped up a level from his usual and Clarke had a very good game too. But some of the defending for their tries was shocking. With Morley and Wood out, we need Rauhihi to step up a level. Sadly he seemed to step down a few from last week. Evidence perhaps one more year might be beyond him.

Agree with this, ive mentioned in another thread about Bridge's poor decision making, the pass outside to Hicks instead of inside to Clarke springs to mind.

I think Hull KR were given one more penalty than we were so that is blatantly not true.
And surely you can't believe that comment about Briers kicking game?

| The pack more than held their own - with a half-decent kicking game we would have won fairly comfortably.

You thought wrong then didn't you, penalty count was 8-8 the difference being we conceded 3 pens on our own try line and 2 pens on the last tackle which gives them great field position and equally great scoring opportunity's, so yes our ill-discipline lost us the game.
The Briers kicking game is garbage, i actually counted 1 good kick in the last game he played and the rest went to the full-back or winger he never turns the man around.

| Briers kicking game is nowhere near as good as it used to be - even when we battered Bradford his kicking was average.
His kicking for touch distance is decreasing although to be fair he did OK against Huddersfield. He is struggling to get any kind of distance - maybe he is playing injured and too much reliance is placed on him.
I would love to see Sinfield down at the Wire, he has more of an Aussie style to his kicking, usually finds the ground and has defenders turning.

| I agree that Briers does not generally have a great kicking game. Many of his down field kicks are poor. However he would have gained a few extra yards from penalty kicks. Although I say generally his kicking game is not great he does have a knack of producing a couple of gems - well placed grubber kicks or over head to King.
Generally the kicking game wasn't all that great this weekend which it seems many attribute to the lengthy grass.
