To be fair to Northampton Saint, he isn't entirely two-faced.
For example, he stood by his assertion that Saints have the best pack in the league, even having just witnessed that same pack being torn a new one by ours.

| Quote ="Jaywire"That contested high ball was still rubbish, though. The saints player (Meli?) had his fingers on the ball when he hit the ground, but Joel had it securely in both hands by that point, which doesn't sound very defused to me.'"
There is a picture on garyskent thread which shows Meli has hold of the ball and Joel has his hands outside of these. So MAYBE the officials got that bit right BUT was watching the SL show highlights last night and I am not sure whether Meli's left foot was actually touching the try line. If it was I dont know whether this counts as "in goal" as it was for Brett try or whether it counts as "outside of the ingoal area" as it would be on the three other lines.
Anyways it didnt cost us the game so lets move on and get ready for Saturday. Afterall....the games only have 4 days inbetween Eddie.

| Are we not changing the rules yet because gravity is too strong for Tommy Makinson and he grounded the ball in goal?

Meli did get his hands on it in the air, but I thought the point was that he had to have hold of it when he touched the ground again to defuse it? But yes, it didn't cost us the game, I just like talking these things over.
What is the rule on grounding the ball behind your own line, does it have to be intentional or not? If not then that was pretty unfair on Makinson as it looked like he slipped.

| The 4/5 days issue that Hemmings got so uptight about is not the issue and wasn't why Briers had a whinge, which surely Eddie should realise!! (maybe not)
The issue is that coming into potentially the biggest game of the season Warrington will have had 5 days recovery time after playing away from home against the 3rd best team in the league wheras Wigan will have had 8 days recovery time after a gentle run out against Hull FC!! Both Warrington games live on SKY giving them no flexibility to change!!
Can you imagine the furore if the boot was on the other foot?...........Shaun Wane would be demanding the intervention of Internatinal Rescue and a knighthood for Sam Tomkins!!

**** me but there are some dense buggers on here... I thought SaintsFan was bad. NOW I know why I avoid the Warrington board like the veritable.
Frankly I can't be mythered with you, but do yourself a favour and read back through all my previous posts on this site - you'll be royally entertained and educated at the same time believe you me. But anyway, to precis my long-held and consistent views on the current Wire side:
1. You're the best team in the league by a country mile when you play to your maximum.
2. You have a tendency not to be able to do so in the playoffs.
3. Reminding Wire fans of this fact for a bit of banter is fun.
4. Doing it in comedy over-exaggerated confrontational style is even more fun.
5. In my opinion, Saints have a marginally better pack than you do in player-for-player personnel terms.
6. Our pack has looked anything but on the occasions we've played Wigan and now you because of the mess our coaching setup is in right now (and has been for several seasons).
7. Because of the basic quality of our personnel upfront we still have a reasonable chance of beating you in the playoffs if things go in our favour and your playoff jitters kick in again.
8. That chance isn't great, but I still wouldn't completely bet against it happening.
9. If we had to play you at O/T then I would emigrate to avoid having to witness the mauling we would take.
10. A lot of people who post on the Warrington board are clearly idiots with extraordinarily limited intellect and unworthy of my further attention. This is to your detriment.
I think that that about covers it. Enjoy

To try and claim the Warrington board is somehow worse than the others is just being ridiculous. There are idiots on every board and they are always the minority - perhaps you would be able to engage in reasonable conversation with the rest of the fans if you avoided such patronising comments as the ones above.

Oh and thanks for adding me to your signature by the way. It amuses me to see the import you clearly see in my opinions. I can hardly blame you - if I were a knuckle-dragging lowlife then I would find me enchanting and worthy of such adoration too. Good for you.

You appear to have forgotten your post from half an hour ago:

Also, having checked Ian77's quote of yours from the Saints board I see he was quite right - you completely berated Warrington as a nothing team, then came on here claiming you respect us and think we're a good team as soon as we'd beaten you. But in pointing this out we are dense?
Seriously, have some dignity and just leave, you don't have a leg to stand on.

I feel everyone should at least have a chance to be honest and admit their mistakes (I did myself earlier in this thread), but it is hilarious when they refuse.

| Guys... Northampton SAint is a bit of a plank but doesn't he have every right to change his mind after the resounding point made by Wire?
As much as we like to make fun of certain Wigan fans who change their mind on things when they are backs against the wall (the signing of Ben Cross being the sweetest) Northampton Saint was making a point about a team that had been dry bummed by Saints a few months ago and were looking wobbly for the first part of this year. The challenge was set (and he was partaking in a little bit of 'banter'- whatever he calls it) and after his team was thoroughly dismantled he changed his mind. Surely that is commendable.
Of course if he had just admitted that instead of still playing the bobby big balls, he would be more respectable. His bull about Saints pack and any other shreds of comfort are jsut that; comfort he has to make himself believe. Surely the bigger laughing stock would be if he still claimed that Saints were better than us and weren't still declining (which they really seem to be), maybe?
Oh and Northampton Saint, St Helens' pack isn't better than Warrington's. It was proven conclusively on Monday. Also, your reference to Playoff jitters. We only didn't show up the the playoffs ONCE. Last year we lost by a penalty to the eventual champions (and a team that destroyed you AGAIN at OT). As much as you'd like to attach the tag of bottlers to this WArrington team; 2 Challenge Cups and a League Leader's shield says you're full of e!

Fascinating.
I wasn't referring to your opinion on our team; it is of no value at all. It was more the fact that you were slagging us off as a group or supporters on your board then trying to engage in a debate on here. That's what's two faced. OK pumpkin?

| Meanwhile, back to the thread ....
What about Tyke. I have to own up and say that at the start of the season I never really thought he would make the grade. But this season he has really pushed on and is a bit of a revelation. He still looks a bit light when he mixes it with the bigger forwards, but his speed and sidestep make him a dangerous player towards the end of the match when players are starting to get tired and gaps appear. He also works hard, and his defence is noticeably improving. A couple of people have mentioned him on this thread and with good reason, I think we have a really good player in the making.
Late(r) developer ? Or proof we have an excellent coaching set up ? Competition for a place bringing out the best ?

Have we had the actual proposals yet, or are we still working with the outline, Rogues ?
And have Wigan actually agreed - I had heard you were going to go with Scorpions as a feeder ? I can not seem to find any info on the RFL site.

Agree totaly, a complete backward step by the RFL being forced through by clubs who seemingly don't want to invest in their youth set up.

If I were cynical, I would think the RFL want to destroy the youth set up of clubs like Wire inorder to level the playing field in SL.
tut, tut what a dreadful person I am.
