| Okay so we know Brett is on his way over for sure now.
But what will happen to Mathers?
And more importantly, how will we be able to find out what is going to happen to him (before it happens)?
As has been the answer all week: stalk him on Twitter.
The most recent development:
Person to Mathers via Twitter says: "Not fancy coming back to union? I've heard rumours about you signing for Carnegie. "
Mathers replies to person via Twitter: "I wouldn't rule it out..."
Discuss.

| unless tony smith has explicitly told mathers that there is no place for him at warrington then surely his reaction should be that he is going to use the rest of the season to make himself absolutely indispensible at fullback for warrington and hodgson can come here and play on wing instead of hicks
i know they are at different stages of their careers but maybe mathers should take a leaf out of riley's book in terms of getting himself back into 1st team, rather than throwing toys out of pram and deciding to switch to union
although i can see what a blow it is for him bringing in a player quite clearly to fill his position and he can't be blamed for exploring his options
at the worst he is putting himself in shop window and so we should get some good games out of him
thought he might have been trying out for the yorkshire beach volleyball team with that "spike" he did immediately preceeding catalans try...could there be any truth in that?

| I think Richie will still be here next season, not altogether sure why i think this, maybe its just the fact that i dont think a player would be so open on a social networking site. Could it possibly be a little wind up ? I hope so .

Not many clubs will be carrying two experienced senior fullbacks who have little capability or need to cover elsewhere.
From his Tw@ttering you could deduce he's been told his contract will not be renewed before Hodgson was announced.
Hodgson not playing every game is because he'll be 33 and maybe also because you'll need to bring that young taff through.

Mathers almost gifted Pat Richards an interception try in that game, i think Wigan were 8-0 up at the time and Mathers threw out a wild pass to the right. Pat Richards almost caught the ball with no Warrington players in front of him, it would have been a clear run under the posts for Richards which would have made the scoreline 14-0 to Wigan at that point which would have made it tough for us.
Mathers has great enthusiasm and does a lot of things well, unfortunatley he does a lot of things poorly as well which hasn`t gone unoticed by our coach it seems hence the signing of Brett Hodgson. I don`t think any Warrington fan dislikes him on a personal level, their is no doubt about his effort and commitment its just we need to do a lot better in that position to become an all round better side. He`s hardly a rock at the back and if a kick goes up the outcome is a complete lottery, you need better than that from your fullback at the level were aiming for.

Bridge also praised the signing of full-back Brett Hodgson, as he will join the club from Huddersfield ahead of the 2011 season.
"He'll be a good signing and I've been a great admirer of him," Bridge said. "He's a good footy player and I think he'll add a lot to the squad.
"He'll also add more competition as well."
if mathers is going, then whos hodgson going to be competing with for the full back spot?

Riley willl take over the full back spot when he does not play and t.s will put penny or r Williams onto the wing I would guess

| All this speculation and we don't know who else we might sign for next year. Say, for example, we signed, Kyle Eastmond, he would also be an option for full back.

I have always been a big fan of his throughout his time with us. I just think with his now playing for a contract (either with us or elsewhere) it would be great if he could earn that contract by taking his game to a whole new level.

| It really iritates me as to why [uall[/u Wigan fans hate him. The lad was never given a fair chance at Wigan and was shipped out in a deal that was no fault of his own - had no say in the matter, but strangley Wigan fans hate him. It's different with Gleeson he wasn't committed and wanted to play for Wigan.

To be fair, I don't hate him at all, I liked him when he was at Wigan, I just thought that was funny so I said it
Mathers was given a fair crack of the whip at Wigan, he didn't make the cut, like he clearly isn't doing at Warrington, granted he has been better at Warrington than he ever was at Wigan.
Why do you seem to think Wigan fans hated him because he went to Wire, the Wigan fans I know hate him because of some of the dreadful errors he made, or some of the half hearted tackles he put in, like slapping Gilmour on the in Cardiff on his way to the sticks, no others spring to mind, but it's definatly not because he went to Warrington, I don't think many people really cared where he went. What your saying is you hate Gleeson because he wanted to go to a different club?
BTW I hated it when some fans cheered everytime he caught something, or booed when his name was read out on the teamsheet. Mathers is a model pro, and his enthusiasm is top notch, he has just failed to live up to his potential coming through the ranks at Leeds.
