| As has been commented on -
Line Speed - Woeful
Go Forward - Embarrassing
Game Plan (when under pressure) - Non-existent
Recruitment (or lack of it) - Bizarre
Captaincy - Sorely lacking
All in all, the makings of a great season ahead

| Quote ="MorePlaymakersNeeded"There were good things - getting Ashton into space early in the game, the finish by Thewlis, and Walkers well worked try with Philbin. Then there were the bad things - Widdop's launch out of the line, Hughes's late hit that will most likely see him getting sat down two games, our goal line defence and defensive structure.
There's a huge problem with attitude and leadership, with the senior players setting a bad example instead of a good one.
It doesn't matter whether a coach has been at the club for one, six, or a hundred games, they're not going to make any progress until we have the right attitude and leadership on the field. DP needs to resolve these issues, immediately, and it's so plainly obvious that he's made a mistake with the captaincy.
Integrating a new coaching team, and new players into what was left behind by Price, I accept will take time, but the right attitude by the squad should have been there from round one. We need leaders that deserve and command respect, to ensure the attitude of the team on the field of play is on point. A priority that needs sorting, as DP's gauntlet is still on the dressing floor.'"
I don't see how Hughes being sat down for 2 games can be classed as a bad thing.

| It was a 50/50 game anyway and we weren't as bad as everyone is crying about. Massive overreactions from a hell of a lot of fans. Next week we will have Mulhern back to strengthen the pack, Daz Clark should be back and potentially Magoulias making a debut. We weren't blown off the park by any means and we are 6 games in so i'm not gonna sit and cry about it. Yeah there are a few players not on form but there is plenty of time for us to hit form and click. It's not panic stations yet.

| Overreaction by Wire fans? Never.
These are the same people who in March 2009 would have been calling for taxis to take King and Monaghan to the airport, who would have wanted Briers shipping out to Barrow and believed that Smith wouldn't be able to turn the attitude around. They'd have called for Gatcliffe to go now that the move to the new ground was completed. Some of the sly ones would have praised the investment by Moran but wondered whether he really knew how to run a rugby club...

Can't we just ring the RFL and tell them they missed a squirrel grip by Hughes? That seems to be lengthy ban. May get 8 games out of that.

| Think Butler might cop a ban for you aswell…led with the elbow and certainly didn’t miss Crowther about 5 minutes into the 2nd half…fair play to Crowther who didn’t try milking anything out of it…more trying to show it didn’t hurt! Not sure whether you’d see that as a good thing or bad like with Hughes?
On the flip side we’ll be missing Johnstone through concussion protocol and have 4 other wing options out injured…Escares loan is up but Jowitt is back and he’s had a brilliant start to the season…Fifita could have a nervous wait on the disciplinary though as one of his late tackles didn’t look good…he would be a major miss!
Can you be as bad again next week? We can certainly be as good and our major strength this season has been our fitness and finishing games strong…whole new back room team has see unreal results on that score along with a great team spirit…looking forward to it!

I admire your Dunkirk spirit, but anyone who can't see we have issues is deluded. There are players in that team who are no longer fit for purpose, and others who look very much square pegs and round holes. Accepting mediocrity is a sure way of perpetuating it.

| One observation I'll make, everyone was going silly about that video that was released from his first meeting with the squad, happy that he was saying the right things (I'm sure price had a similar one on his first day).
One of the things highlighted was not panicking and falling apart (like what happened in the kr play off game) and he's mentioned it again after all 3 losses now, we're playing bad and now we're panicking/collapsing even more.its got worse not better.

Agreed, we seem to throw any game plan out of the window, as soon as we go behind. Screams of a lack of leadership on the field.

I think there's been a lot of objective points raised in what needs improving, rather than "massive overreactions from a hell of a lot of fans". Yes, there's still a long way to go in 2022 and there were good things done in yesterdays game, but overall were heading in the wrong direction. Hopefully, yesterday was DP's tipping point, as Harlequins away was for Tony Smith, but there's no guarantee it will.

You probably have a cupboard full of 100% attendance merit badges, and "Best 3rd Place" medals.
Sport is about winning. Second place belongs with second rate and no-one ever became champions by shrugging their shoulders and saying "that'll do". The club strives to be the best off the field but seems happy to be impotent on it.

Exactly - we lose playing the so called "top players" so may as well lose giving the young players a chance.

No i've just looked at the game without emotion, yeah everyone knows we aren't clicking and players are off form but i've seen that turn around loads of times with lots of squads. Seems most Warrington fans have got to the stage that if things aren't perfect immediately anymore they need moving on straight away. Powell gets a pass from me this year, he's not stupid and knows where we need to strengthen. Once he gets rid of more deadwood at the end of this season he can actively buy more players we need. And no that isn't deluded it's realistic.

Mulhern is still better than Philbin or Butler so it is an improvement. Clark seems to be injured alot this year which is hampering his fitness etc. If he can get consistant game time he'll get back to form. But yeah our forward pack is gonna be an issue this whole seson which we all spotted before the season started. Bullock was going well for us so it's a shame he's injured, and with Philbin being off form and seemingly lost his impact we're pretty goosed.

I actually think butler is better than mulhern and he played better yesterday than Philbin has in the previous 5 games. Philbin yesterday though was probably a little bit better than butler.

| It’s all immaterial . Let’s stop analysing the individual games or performance. It’s a fact we lack quality and we have digressed for some time. The truth is the problem is far more widespread and we’ve been in decline for a while. The reason imo is because we are on a vanity project and there’s a need for sanity.
The money spent trying to find a half back combination is frightening for the last 3/4 years. Start with the pack and that allows your attacking players to play. It then breeds confidence
The game at times is simple but complicated by over analysing. Not been a team that’s won the wholly grail of a grand final without a decent pack for the half’s to play behind
Ask any half back

| Lino would have been a terrific signing and I bet he wasn't ever on the radar of our recruitment team. Still he would be just as useless for us as what we actually do have playing behind a pack with no go forward and no ruck control.
Big names and gimmicks that's all our CEO is about. Leave the signings to somebody who knows how to build a balanced squad.
I hope that as this season progresses I'm given some cause to be optimistic for next season, that's the best we can hope for I think, the cup run ends next week and top 5 looks very unlikely.

| A mediocre game, played by a mediocre team, coached by a mediocre coach and a mediocre CEO all with a fan base (bar a few dissenters) that accepts mediocrity as the norm.
The scary thing is that the owners are massively successful in their own businesses, but they can't get this right and that is mediocre at best.
