If you are to make an honest assessment of eg the appointment of Powell then you have to look at what you thought of him prior to his appointment and at the time of his appointment. Unless you were rabidly “anti” at that time then you are relying on hindsight.
I was in the “fair enough” camp. He had done a decent job at Cas on a limited budget. He had developed players while there and he knew Superleague as a long established coach rather than as an import.
I certainly didn’t foresee any major problem and I challenge anyone to say they anticipated this mess.
We have no idea what has gone on behind the scenes leading up to this point.
So the next question is what should an informed Board/CEO do next?
They have backed their man in the transfer market for next season. They have the example of Watson at Huddersfield. Powell and his team have contracts which have a monetary value if they are dismissed. There is no obvious successor as caretaker if they are all shipped out.
Logically they have to stick with him, until part way through next season and see how it develops.
I have no knowledge of KF as a person. I get that he is considered under qualified by some on here, but we have been down the high profile route and look how that turned out.
So back to KF, I can’t see that he has done anything that hasn’t been thought through, due process applied and that could have been anticipated would’ve gone wrong.
For those who ask I include the signings of Burrell and Inglis in this. They were signed as “gambles” which generated a lot of publicity and did no actual harm. Shame they didn’t work out but I have no doubt the Club were more than aware of that possibility at the time.

I have no problem with KF personally, and no problem with how the club runs its marketing, social media etx.

But he is part of a management team that, publically at least, is setting by impotently watching us heading for the rocks.

The Watson/Hudds analogy is a flimsy one because Watson didn't rup the squad to bits mid-season nor was he given a blank cgeque to do so.

I reiterate, I suspect the board would be more diatressesd and likely to act if the CEO of Hoover was on the phone rathwr than 4000 south standers booing.

Anyone else concerned about the performance of our next coach and his current team?
Since beating us on the 5th June they have lost 6 games on the bounce and including the CCF. Now I know they have less resources than Warrington but this is one of the worst sets of recent results in the SL. They also seem to have a lot of problems with Covid and injuries, I don’t know whether this is just bad luck or poor management.
Daryl Powell is moving to a much bigger outfit, he will have a bigger player roster some on big money and egos to manage, he will need to manage upwards and downwards, with bigger expectations and scrutiny. He has demonstrated in the past that he can develop players, hopefully he can develop the club.
If I was Mr Fitzpatrick I would be a bit worried. As am I. anyone else?

I am not surprised at where we are now, it is even worse than I expected and to be honest I find it all very sad. Warrington is a life long passion of mine, we have had many difficult periods mainly because we haven't had the financial resources other bigger clubs had. Now we have,we have the facilities on and off the pitch, we have some really good players and an improving academy set up. What is missing is a first class modern coaching set up. This is the requirement. Now!

But that was my point, while many may have thought he was not the answer to GF success, few, if any, anticipated this total drop off. So not sure how KF could’ve. As for switching horses mid stream, I’m by nature fairly slow to the sack the coach party and in mitigation look at the number of Half back combinations we have had, most of which have been enforced.
I’m currently sitting in a darkened room sucking my thumb and dreaming of sunlit uplands where Tony Smith gambols in Elysian fields gurning as Moz and co run riot.

And we still didn't win the GF.

Not anti-Powell at all, but you’ll see from my posts in March and April last year that I had serious concerns over the recruitment & selection process. I never saw it going this wrong, but I did have reservations.

KF is as responsible for this mess as DP is. Why? They’ve both created a “culture of uncertainty and nervousness amongst the playing group.”

The management of retaining or letting players go with these supposed letters issued to out of contract players on 1 May has been wholly mismanaged. It’s treating players as commodities, not humans, that would have contributed to player interest amongst other things.

In addition, KF would have had significant influence on appointing DP.

….and Steve Price….and GI….and Tyrone Roberts…and Latu…and Luther Burrell…and Billy the Greek……and etc.

Dean destroyed Huddersfield when we played them at the HJ, yet was totally ignored by Powell for selection by Powell.

When Williams dropped out because if illness, I would have preferred to lose one interchange and bring Dean into the squad, than to have Ratchford and Matautia as the halves.

Abysmal news. Really, our season looks like it is just coming down to the Toulouse game now. Have we got enough to beat Toulouse at home, even without those two? I just hope to God we do.

Imagine we take a 10 point lead in the game then 15 mins left of the second half they score a converted try. There will be more bum holes twitching than the haemorrhoid clinic at Warrington Hospital.
