| It irks me that Brisbane will walk out to woops and applause on Saturday. I'm too young (!) to remember, but surely in the days of Kangaroo/Kiwi tours at Wilderspool it was the opposite?

Why do you say that? I guess they'll walk out with the Wire, which might explain you're comment!?! St George didn't get given any grace (certainly until after the game), so can't see why it'll be any different for Brisbane.

| Amazingly, when touring sides were over here it was surprising what good efforts the English club sides made. I remember one Warrington v Australia game in the 60s when some of the best Aussies ever to pull on the shirt turned out against us...Langlands,Irvine ,Dimond, Gasnier, Kelly among other notable players...& we only lost by about 12 points. The clubs had more success against the tourists than we have had so far in the club friendlies.

| I'm not bothered in the slightest what happens in this game. Well, that's not true. I don't want us to be embarrassed and I don't want us to get any injuries. But I'm not bothered if we lose.

| As long as we come out injury free and with a respectable score line then I'm happy. Not only do I not want The Wire to be embarrassed on live TV, I also don't want the British Game to be embarrassed. In the NRL I'm a Sharks fan, but I'll still be cheering the Pies on come Sunday. I'll always put an English team before the convicts.
In order to get this series to the point where its a major fixture and a major force in the UK sporting calendar, British teams have to be competitive. keeping the score within a try or penalty to win the game will do it. Otherwise it'll just get forgotten about. I do fear though that this game may break us early on in the season.

| All that i will say is the Broncos -12 and Sharks -8 as a double is a licence to print money!! i think we will get battered. I should be positive i know, and i will be there hoping the lads can prove me wrong. However, I just cannot see past two large scores from the aussies this weekend!!

Well if you are intending going along with 50 of your mates and you all want to sit together, there are not too many options left now.

| Does anyone know if Mitchell Dodds is in the Brisbane Broncos squad in the UK?
It would be ironic if given the number of games he played for Wire, that he did play on Saturday.

| From the Warrington Wolves Website:
The Brisbane Broncos landed in the UK on Friday afternoon ready for the big match at The Halliwell Jones Stadium, 18 February, KO 8pm.
Coach Wayne Bennett has brought a strong 19-man squad with him with some big names in the mix.
Broncos Squad
Jai Arrow, Darius Boyd, Herman Ese’ese, George Fai, Matt Gillett, Alex Glenn, Ben Hunt, Jordan Kahu, Andrew McCullough, Josh McGuire, David Mead, Anthony Milford, Corey Oates, Joe Ofahengaue, Tevita Pangai Jnr, Jonus Pearson, James Roberts, Jaydn Su’A, Sam Thaiday
So no Mitchell Dodds

| Apart from not fitting into Tony Smith's plans for this year, the Bronco's game would have made an ideal testimonial for Ben Harrison. He has been one of the club's most loyal & dependable servants for the last 13(?) years & a decent display could have been rewarded with an extension of some kind to his involvement with the club.

| Don't get the pessimism towards this... the alternative is we could do away with it and be happy with playing Salford, Wakefield and Leeds year in, year out. I've never seen us play against Brisbane, one of RL's most iconic sides. Being the first English side to win a world club series game would be nice too... and if the series is a success it adds a little more variety to the annual fixture list. Our sport needs more 'events', and I hope this establishes itself as a season opener for the best SL teams.

| Warrington paying 5/1 with the bookies. The Broncos are bringing a young forward pack over, a chance to get on top of them? Their backline is all class though.

| We will either hang in but not quite get the win or get battered. I cannot see us scoring more than we conced. For any chance of that we will have to defend for our lives

I am pretty sure a large proportion of gate receipts go to the RFL for these games.

When we played St George Illawarra we had to put up the money to fly their squad over and I am pretty sure it was well over £100k. Where have you heard that a large proportion goes to the RFL this time ?

| I can't wait for this. It's a club test match against the biggest club in this sport. Doesn't have to mean anything more than that. Great Britain v Australia always will be a big game even if it's not the international level, points or a trophy for a win or not

Sorry I knew that there was a large financial outlay that had to be recovered by gate receipts.

| The NRL sides are clearly better than Super League sides, but are they so much better that they can just beat us at will, over and over again? Surely 9 times out of 10 they’ll win, but hopefully this’ll be the one time, the off night and we’ll beat them!
Might have to wait until next year though, when they’ve lost interest or become complacent.
It doesn't mean Super League is bad though, just not as quite as good. Maybe we should stop playing the best sides and play whoever finishes bottom of the NRL. It's make it more interesting.
