Your not that romantic then, you should be cooking your wife a meal a few times a week anyway... unless your gonna pull out all the stops with music, candles and so on but even then when does a relaxing weekend at home be just that... Sunday is valentines and you know as well as i do Saturday will be spent washing, cleaning, ironing and so forth whilst your doing jobs in the house.

Weekend away removes all the jobs so it can be just a relaxing weekend plus you can still cook the nice meal with flowers, candles and music....

Basically your tight with your money is what you mean or as some like to say careful

Anyone got any recommendations of nice hotels that they've experienced first hand?
Someone once told me about a very nice hotel in or near leeds which is right near some water, so close in fact you can hang your tackle out of the window and catch some right whoppers. Ive never been able to remember the name of it so have never been myself

My missus wants to go for a day out the Saturday before Valentine's Day (nothing to do with V Day itself which she hates, just a general day out as we've got no football on that weekend) so we're going to Leeds as it's only half an hour on the train to Cas from there. Sound.

Doesn't mean you can't do something really special. Theme it on something special to you both and if you've got kids, make sure thery can stay with grandparents for the weekend!

I didn't explain myself very well, i should've said 'partner' instead of 'missus'

we don't live together, and I've been in Germany for the last few months, so I'm flying back and surprising her... I suppose if a couple doesn't live together it might be more romantic to cook a meal for her with candles and the whole shebang, but in our case she still lives with her mother so the best option is to get out of her way

and go away for the weekend...



To the poster who asked to reccommend hotels/locations/etc. i don't think it matters where, somewhere quiet/relaxing that won't require you to take out a small mortgage to stay there this weekend

I don't live with mine and due to work I'll only be seeing her for one day in that whole week. On that day I'm leaving her in Leeds at 4.30 and catching a train to Cas away; "See you next weekend love".

i buy my wife a bunch of flowers every week,she'll get a card but nothing else out of the ordinary,romance should flow throughout the year like a sparkling brook,hang on i think i'm about to vomit.
what's annoying about it is there are no women out there fretting over what to do for there blokes on the 14th,if they did ask we'd all want the same thing anyway!

Valentines is a money make scam to help card shops and the like to make money between xmas & easter. I treat my good lady the same every day and after 10 years of courting and nearly 8 years of marriage i dont need some tacky card and a heart shaped balloon to show my feelings. Just telling them you love them evey day can mean more to some ladies. It's the ones that expect presents all the time that you should be well rid of.

Love should not cost a thing

What's wrong with being careful?

My current financial situation means I need to be careful with money. Some of us can't go throwing it around left right and centre like others can. Yes, I'm tight with money because I have to be. I don't like it, but it's the way it is, so don't have a ing go at people for being careful with their hard earned money.
