I'm surprised - I was convinced that in the past few years the final would go to golden point if necessary, oh well, learn something new every day

| I'd hate to see my team lose in what effectively would become "Who could kick a drop goal" first as you'd think a penalty would be hard to come by and given the fatigue scoring a try wouldn't be easy.
I guess as a player, this is all you want, this is what you've looked forward to since being a kid, is it right that you could lose theortetically in extra time without touching the ball, five drives, just inside their half, wallop, see you later.
Bitter pill to swallow that. If the sides are that evenly matched, do it all over again for me.

The game should be decided at Wembley. The Cup presentation, the lap of honour, the sunny afternoon.
Nah, Bolton is wrong.

Golden point??..........Gerry Helme would be turning in his grave!!

| If it isn't Golden Point in the final, it shouldn't be Golden Point in any round.
You just have to look at Castleford v Halifax to see why it isn't fair.
(HKR v Wire at least didn't end without the other team having the ball)

Thing is, at Cas they could've kicked a drop goal from under their own sticks. I think it would be better to be golden try rather than golden point...

| Would kill me to have the game end and then have to wait ten days for a replay.
Much better just doing extra time. Would make the RFL loads more money to have replay at Reebok, but could have solved that by moving our semi there.
I wouldn't want us to be lifting trophy away from Wembley.

| Dont agree with a replay like every one else on here.
If it does go to a replay though there will be a lot of upset people without tickets. I think the Reebok holds 25,000 so thats only 12,500 per club, probably less with sponsors and what not. the club certaintly couldn't offer more than 2 tickets per season ticket could they.

It's funny as the RFL have taken the step of announcing the venue beforehand as they think there is a higher than ever chance of a draw :-S

| I cant believe they still insist with this rubbish! If anything it should be the earlier rounds that should have replays if it ends in a draw. A bit like the FA Cup think of the excitement if a small cliub managed to pull off a draw and take back one the big teams, to their ground.
Instead the RFL insist of having a replay for the Final which costs more money?!
Also how would the ticket situation work? Do fans who purchased tickets for Wembley get tickets at the Reebok for a discounted price? Is it a first come first serve basis as Wembley is 90,000 and Reebok is considerbly smaller.

| Sod golden point. 10 mins each-way extra time, and if that doesn't decide it, have the comedy goal-kicking shootout like in union.
Picture it: 12-all on kicks, Crabtree steps up and tops it along the floor, Morley takes a fifteen yard run up and smashes it right between the aitches.

| Don't mean to say I told you so, but... I did, about three days ago.
I don't have a problem with a final going to a replay. The cup should be decided at the end of a full, 80-minute encounter and, while regular rounds can be tricky to fit into a season, the final is still the pinnacle of that club's season and so you should get a proper winner.
What the situation would be like in terms of scrapping for replay tickets, however, I can only dread to think.

| Disappointed with the possibility of having a replay, but given that there is one if it ends up all square at Wembley, I can't understand why they've only gone for a 28k stadium.
Name: Reebok Stadium
Inauguration: 1 September 1997
First match: Bolton-Everton
Capacity: 28,000 seats
Pitch dimensions: 105*68
Address: Burnden Way, Bolton, Lancashire, BL6 6JW
Given that we've sold around 12k through the club already (and 1000's more from the RFL) I can see many fans being disappointed.
I really think that they'd have been better with a 40k stadium and the possibility of a few empty seats.
Let's hope we don't need it.

| Whether you like it or not, its not like the RFL have changed the goal posts in time for our final. Its always been the case that if the final is drawn then it goes to a replay. But this IS the first time I remember the RFL announcing plans about a possible scheduled replay. Maybe due to the fact they reckon this is one of the closest cup finals in years?
The reason, I assume, that the previous rounds go to golden point is to limit the amount possible games that any given team could end up playing. Admittedly, the chances of a draw in Rugby League these days are very slim so this is probably a load of hot air over nothing.
As for a scramble of tickets, I can't see too many "bandwagoners" being fussed about getting the time off work in order to go to the replay, especially when The Reebok is one of the most terrible places to go in terms of actually getting there.
