I loved that one who thought he was 10 men because he was full of ale so rushed towards the players brawl then visibly cacked himself. When Mike Cooper just started laughing at him I was in fits.

Don't forget too wash that sand out of your hair, rd
Great, my bottom.
No tries in 75 minutes. We could've stayed there all night,, and not scored another try. We are CLUELESS when we're the opposition 20.
Last night, we we ran up so many blind alleys, it was untrue. And SLOW. At least 5 times our players were caught ball watching. Schoolboy stuff.
imo, the standard of SL has never been as low, yet we don't take advantage.
MADDENING
Our halves create NOTHING
Why can't you see us NOT fixing issues. That's late close defeats to Wigan, Saints and Cas, and a draw against Les Cats, in the last 6 weeks. I see a trend happening, and it's not improvement
Still, you were correct about improvements, especially from Roberts.
He can't do worse, can he?

| I don't care about where we are come round 639 or the possibility that if we play our semi when jupiter is ascending we're nailed on to win. I'm a wires fan and I want to win every game - friendlies, testomonials, challenge cup, Sl the lot. Winning whatever the context is all that matters in sport.
In terms of last night, and also against Wigan and Catalans, we lost for the same reasons and I don't see it getting fixed until next year.
Roberts is a lazy sod. Defence or attack, a workshy intruder.
In the pack our starting 6 are trojans. Cooper, Clark, Westwood & Hughes were immense last night. Then we look at the bench and we have BMM and Akauola who give penalties away as cheaply as they give yards to the defence.
Cruicially, we don't have a general who leads, directs, prompts and cajoles with venom, guile and football [iintelligence[/iwhen games get tight. If Austin is that man we'll turn the what ifs into points.

| Not one single chance created by our half backs, we score a try from broken play and then nothing but penalties. That must be as poor a creative pairing as we have ever seen, all that ball provided by an outstanding forward pack and nothing gained.
Send Roberts home now, an absolute waste of time, give Dec the job at the very least he will be trying to create and no doubt succeed

| Roberts is getting a lot of stick and rightly so but Kevin Brown was truly awful again and did nothing.
Akaoula made one carry in 20 minutes - that is absolutely shocking.

| wow chillout guys - we played well we just dont know how to close out a game! Ask A Hull fan what a bad performance is!
In comparison to where i thought we'd be after a complete clearout last summer im delighted that we can give the 'best team super leagues ever seen' (according to sky) a game
We just need to learn how to close out tight games. Mr Briers step forward - you need to teach our playmakers how to set-up for a drop goal

| On reflection I really don’t think sending somebody home and promoting from the bench will make us anymore creative.
If we had of dropped a goal late on last night and won the game would we be more confident of doing it again in a big semi/final later in the season? A bit happier short term maybe but more confident next time? I’m not so sure. Assuming we stay in the top 4, which we should, we only really need to nail that final play/drop goal once possibly when it really matters.
Has anybody at the club thought of a foil for Roberts in a drop goal situation? Every man and his dog knows it’s going to him! Like Wigan did a couple of weeks ago, giving the ball to Woods as we all ran at Tomkins. Or is everybody else at the club useless at them? Practice then for later in the season.
I also hope everybody is not expecting Austin to start taking the lead for us from day 1 next year. From what I’ve seen of him he looks ok. More of a runner than an organiser, suspect defence like most halves, a 6 not a 7. Just don’t see all our problems being solved straight away with him and Brown/Patton.
Tyrone Roberts may repeat his drop goal attempts from last night next week v Leeds or in a semi-final/Grand final and he will rightly be blasted but somebody else needs to step up and give us another option. Or Roberts could nail it next week. It would be about time! Time will tell.

I would like to add to that. Cooper has yet to make 2000 metres this season whilst Thompson has made over 3000 metres and is the fastest prop in super league.........Fact.

| I thought it was a very entertaining match as did the Wests Tigers fan that I took along to see his first English RL game. We should have put more points on them in the first half but our passing is just not crisp enough.
It was difficult to tell from where I was sitting but I thought Brown was not overly involved.
It is easy to blame BMM but I blame Roberts fairly and squarely, that "attempt" at a tackle was shocking, the dg attempt as bad.
I thought our goal line defence was outstanding in the face of overwhelming Saints possession at times.
I have no doubt our attack can improve, but some kudos has to be given that we a competing at this level compared to where we were last year (and with a "marquee" player who is more of a "pop up festival tent".
Saints can crow all they like but it took a last second penalty to beat us not some magnificent attacking play.
Oh, and LMS cockney hardman! That made me chuckle.

| there was a guy stood behind me that was screaming for a drop goal from about 16 minutes to go(he'd also not shook properly after having a pee at half time, so not sure about trusting his judgement)
I was terrified at the thought of going for a drop so early, i couldn't imagine us defending a 1 point lead against them for 12/15 minutes.
Its disapointing, we lost that last night, saints didn't win it.
tbh i thought we did well in defence, and shutting them down moving it out wide, we didn't slip off too many tackles when they were stepping, a lot of shirt sleeves and collars were kept hold of instead of falling off.

Based on what? That was arguably Saints 2nd worst performance of the season, on the back of another tough game at Wigan. We were 10 points clear and don't need to win again this season in the league. We also have Alex Walmsley about to come back as fresh as a daisy. But we were flat out?
An alternative suggestion is that Wire were massively up for the game and still fell short. Price's reaction when you scored told you how much the game meant. You made 2 breaks all game. It could be argued we played the game with 12 men too as Barba was clearly woefully unfit and wasn't linking into the line, leaving everything to Lomax.
I just don't get where the smug arrogance comes from. Sure, you are a decent side and could win the double if things went your way, but to be so dismissive of a side that could be 12 points clear and beat you twice this season is just odd.

Could it perhaps be construed that Warrington didn't let Saints play & get into gear ? It is amazing that ""great"" teams supporters can't bear the thought of possibly being beaten in a one off game. Their team always seems to be below par & manages to lose.

| A couple of the passes pre field goal attempts were SHOCKING and completely put the kicker off balance.
However with five minutes left ... that was when a drop goal should have been attempted just prior to BMM buggering up.
Wire were right under the posts and central ... almost a gimmee.
OK the game wouldn't be sown up ... but possibly.
Saints took great heart from stopping Wire then and kicked on to victory.

It comes from the smug, arrogant Saints fans. (i'm not saying all Saints fans fall into that category). Check out Redvee if you want to see what I mean.
You beat a team by a last minute penalty at home, that team were in the middle 8s last season, can't see why as a supporter of that team I can't take a degree of satisfaction from that.

| Great defensive battle. Childs was massively out of order giving the penalty at the end considering he refused to give the penalty when Hill was clearly interfered with the previous set in front of the sticks. Not much between the teams at all, we will take a lot from that.

dont be soft the game meant as much to both teams and to both coaches...our coach said we should have won that game three times over and yet he wasn't too dissapointed...your coach was clearly miffed by having to get a cheap penalty to win the game... and criticised our style of play ...which to be fair was for our ordinary pack the worst in ten years to run all over yours.... suck it up... hes a proper mard Holbrook....
Also as a wire fan it irks me having to read and hear about the next coming of Jesus Christ our lord in Danny Richardson this lad created nothing in 80 minutes of rugby league nothing jack ...his kicks were Tyrone Roberts-esque.. his running game was Kevin Brown-esque
yet he scored a kick with Zero pressure.......after the hooter...
Yes Zero pressure... kick it and you win and win the league leaders shield... miss it ... and you draw and still win the league leaders shield.
we have the two worst half backs at warrington in a generation they cant pass cant kick cant run.... and you absolutely battered us out of sight by 2 points.....
I'd be worried tha Barba has become Chris Sandow and is primarily thinking of home but also thinking of playing in the two big finals and thinking he just has to turn up and win them....and go home a super hero...
he was garbage yesterday Tom Lineham was faced with a three on one with Ben barba with the ball in his hand and Lineham dealt with it easily....
it was a low quality game all round but we arent the runaway league leaders and the best saints side in a century so I'm not as worried as a saints fan should be....
good luck in the semi final.....catalan are bigger stronger and have better half backs than us....
