The percentage of knee ligament injuries picked up playing you guys is higher than other teams.

| If the 3rd man just wanted to end a tackle, he runs over and can just lift a standing leg, instead Mickey Mac comes in guns blazing and fires his entire weight at the legs of someone in no position to prepare themselves for impact.
I don't actually think it's an attempt to hurt more designed to slow the ruck up even further but the truth is players know they can do serious damage doing this, one day someone might hurt McIllorum doing this and he might actually stop and think about his own actions.

So you don't deny the tactic is there then?

| This evening I watched the other weeks game back.
I don't give a monkey's toss what Wigan do, or who the referee is. Focus on ourselves, play at our best and control the game so we are playing footy at our own pace- then we can prepare for the ten page rant about poor leg room and the mammoth trek from Warrington to Old Trafford.

No no, you've got it wrong, it's Ben Westwood in the grand final, just the one incident, and les Boyd.
We covered this the other week in great detail, that's all Wigan fans use to justify your team's Shithouse mentality.

The priceless bit is the fact that the name of Gareth Hock has been conveniently removed from Wigan's history. What did Morley do whilst at Warrington that was illegal? Wigan's current defensive tactics are highly questionable, even Phil Clarke has admitted this.

Personally I couldn't care less what's legal and what isn't as long as we win and get away with it. If all 17 of their players go off injured in the first half because of shocking challenges that the ref someone let's go and we get to the Grand Final by default because they have no players to contest the second half with and have to forfeit, my only concern would be that I hope our perpetrators don't get banned for the final.

I seem to remember a certain Terry Newton, whilst in Wigan colours, smashing Lee Gilmour and Sean Long in the same match.

Yes Kirk Dixon at Castleford for which he got a two match ban. Les Boyd got an 18 month ban for a similar incident

| I have also watched the last game back and we were going well then the disruptions, Wigan as all good teams do took advantage, we were three players missing for the game and will possibly be three down again then another three unable to return during the match, play as we have of late we have tightened up lately and are looking more focussed, I feel having our full bench to rotate for the full eighty will be crucial.

| There is also Ben Evans although he has been a long term injury, but the club are trying to recruit the healthcare management team that have recently been working for the DWP, if the club are successful in getting them on-board in time for Friday then all will be found fit.

| Quote ="rubber duckie"Wigan have a very structured game plan.
Wigan play the heavy lying on early doors with 3/4 defenders in every tackle, taking a full 4 seconds to release. More often they have also turned the attacker. They will even go to 4.5-5 sec to see what they can get away with.
Through that period of the game they give very few penalties, and look to utilise the pace outside with cut out passes to the wing or flat passes though dummy runners to the centre.
They only resort to roughing it up when that slowing down the play hasn't been effective enough to give them a substantial lead. Smith and Green will then attack running off quick play the balls.
If they have the lead the rough stuff doesn't happen and they resort to a big kicking with Smith.
We have learned to deal with all aspects of the Pie game except how to stop Smith and Green running at us in the second period.'"
Wigan do play structured but not in the way you suggest. In defence it's 3 men in the tackle, two to stop the man and 3rd comes in around the legs, here they can control the speed the man is grounded enabling the def line to reset. Of course there is a disadvantage this technique, if a player can attract 3 players and offload the ball Wigan will be disadvantaged around the ruck/tackle area. Nothing dirty, with pros and cons.
In attach they use arrow heads and dummy runners, offering each ball carrier 3 options per carry, pass short, pass long or run at the line, through practice we can play this at great speed with the FB sweeping round the back as a deep lying receiver it acts as a great threat to attacks. Again, predictable movement and structure which is a disadvantage yet fluent, difficult to stop at pace and allows players to fill in effortlessly if a man is injured, again nothing dirty or illegal.

| It will be Bentham again as Silverwood has just been confirmed as the St's v Cats ref.
Bentham is worth 6 points to the Pies already.
We need to get vocal on Friday to address the balance.
