| Thumbs up to the people who mentioned Skindred and The Gaslight Anthem.
I went to see Orange Goblin at the Roadhouse in Manchester last night and todays listening en route to and from Goodison was Gallows before the match and Dropkick Murphys after.

Not just the media.
But anyway, punk was 33/34 years ago now. Go back 33/34 years from punk and you are in the Second World War - pre pop and rock!
Bet you feel even older now.

Quote ="The Angry Pirate"Going to sound old here, but just as an aside....As music ever been in such a bad state??
From mainstream Radio 1-type fare, right through to the so called alternative, there seems to be so little originality out there....I don't think I have ever had a year where I have bought so little music.
I think the problem with the mainstream scene comes from 2 sources - X Factor and downloading.
Music is now TOO easily accessable....The charts are just choc-a-block with absolute rubbish, put there by kids buying cheap downloads....Also X Factor is now bizarrely seen by many as a credible brand....Absolutely shocking acts like JLS & Leona Lewis are seen as being 'good'.
As for the alternative scene?...Yes, there are some decent bands around, but all seem to be stuck in a rut, believing that 2 guitars and a drum kit equates to good music.
We are desparately in need of a Punk-style revolution to re-ignite the music business....unfortunately, in these depressing times, there seems to be little outlet for this revolt to be heard, because the media in general is in such a conservative state....

Give us a try then! Ryker Sear formed to play and record solid pop/rock with no bow to twangy indie and certainly non to pap-inductions like the X Factor. Their first single, [iJust like You[/i, is available as a download from Amazon.co.uk, Play.com, and many others. Get a sneak peek at www.rykersear.com
A new rock band with genuine Warrington roots.
