I think you'd have a good attendance and get high profile in Liverpool but I'm not sure what the point would be in terms of promoting the game. If you got some locals interested in RL they would presumably go to St Helens or Widnes, or at a stretch us. I doubt there would be a new "Liverpool" franchise. So it feels like more of a marketing thing for Saints/Widnes/us to do rather than a priority for rugby league as a whole.

No it would not if it raises the profile of the game and attracts new supporters then rugby league has benefited. Trying to get a presence in football dominated areas is never going to work out well but stadiums like anfield St. James's Park the Etihad draws a wider public awareness than just the local area to where the stadium is would magic weekend in Coventry draw as much publicity as magic weekend at anfield ??

Are we likely to se Newcastle knights in super league off the back of it being held in Newcastle ? if expansion is an aim then maybe a more international approach would be better served than a uk stadium ?? The bernabau nou camp the Allianz??

I terms of spreading the game Liverpool is a damp squid.

If we must continue with it as a showcase franchise, them move it away to areas of impression. Liverpool totally isn't one of those. Coventry where Wasps has shown there is a appetite, London where grassroot RL is most successful.

Liverpool City, Huyton, Runcorn High field and Prescott Panthers...not even a chance.
Stains and volunteers at grassroots worked tireless for 2 or 3 years trying to get Merseyside schools to at least take up rugby. Kids were interested but the schools didn't care.(I was involved trying in Kirkby area).

Forget Liverpool.

Liverpool might work better when Everton have their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, which is nearer to the City Centre. Of course that is quite a few years away.

Coventry - there isn't an easy walk to the stadium like Cardiff or Newcastle. Manchester was a bit further but only 1.5 miles. It's 3.5 miles from Coventry City centre.

It's a shame that none of the Nottingham Forest stadium redevelopment plans, or the plan to move even closer to the City Centre haven't come off. I think it would be a great location but the stadium is too small.

Attendance also effected by;

Hotel prices - absolutely extortionate and unfortunately the RFL don't have the power to organise discounts.
Train - You couldn't have done a day trip on the train as the last train back was 19:45. Train was also £80 return.
Coach and car - A long day trip and some would have only got home way after midnight.
Kick off times - Why the 2:30pm start on day 1, and then 1pm on day 2. If we had been on last but at 5:30pm then I'm sure more would have made a day trip.

Also said for years that they shouldn't have Championship, League 1, NCL fixtures on the same weekend. I'm sure some of those fans and players would want to go.

The Magic Weekend works partly because we go to new areas of the country.
It's fine to mix it with the Etihad etc as it attracts probably more hard core RL fans, but the likes of Cardiff, Newcastle etc spreads the word - and in my view that's the right way to go.

Ricoh at 33k arguably would be too small if we got 35k yesterday, but it was a good venue for the International and the stadium backers are keen to expand with RL.

We had a Gateshead Thunder coached by Shaun McRea in Super League then we had the Hull Sharks / Gateshead Merger so that the defunct Hull Sharks could get a SL franchise. This merged team to be called "Hull" and play in Hull. The local support in Gateshead were so upset they formed their own club which continues as Newcastle Thunder.

65,407 surprised me that, did not think it would get anywhere near that after first day. On another note i was just looking at hotels in Newcastle for next year and a lot are already sold out.

Pointless being in Manchester. The email survey from ruffle had Villa Park as an option for future years. From what I know it's a good hour away from town centre walking. Unless it was somewhere like Cardiff, it seems to be doing just as good in Newcastle than anywhere else. Just seem to be a little lost what they want from the event and how to market it.

I got an e-mail survey regarding magic weekend and at the end of it it listed a choice of venues to choose from as to were you would like to see it held, only overseas choice was olympic stadium Barcelona.

Summer bash and Magic on the same weekend but combine it and call it summer magic (Took me ages that). Use both stadiums, County and Forest, they're right next to each other.

Do a cup draw so see who plays who (SL Vs SL & Champ Vs Champ obviously). All games would have a VR but sky can choose to pick which game they show from the draw. Plus they can show tries scored in other games as all the cameras will be there.

City ground - Capacity = 30,445. There were 35,000 on the first day of magic. Super League to use this ground as the stadium would be full and buzzing with atmosphere and would create a huge demand for tickets and come across well on TV.

Meadow Lane - Capacity = 19,588. Championship to use this ground as the stadium would be full and buzzing with atmosphere and would create a huge demand for tickets and come across well on TV.

Anywhere so long as its not at the London Stadium or whatever its called. London is too big once the games have finished all the fans bomb burst all over the city and you don't get the same craic.

Nottingham is a good shout as far as cities are concerned, how about Sheffield, easy on the train? (sorry I'm in Manchester so easy for Uncle Rico)

How big is The Hawthorns ? West Bromwich is ideal for all Black Country motorways with good links to London & Bristol & just off the M5.

How about villa park. It's a 42,500 seater stadium. Its in Birmingham and has easy links to the rail and road.
For reference. It's 16 mins drive from the bullring. And also has uber taxi from £5 as well as trains.
For most clubs. It's a 1 day trip up. About 2 hours from the Hj
2 hours 20 from hulls k-kom

So a 2 hour trip for most clubs doesn't seem unreasonable.

Well on the survey i recieved Barcelona was an option, i know its not really a rugby place but it would be a fair call for Catalan fans and lloret de rhyl is not that far away.

To be fair, you can get a week all inclusive in Lloret for the price or the premier inns and travelodges in Newcastle. the prices the scandalous

I have never been to West Bromwich for pleasure,has anyone ? I have delivered there numerous times & it is only 15 to 20 minutes by bus & down the A41 through Handsworth to the city centre. Ah,Handsworth, that is a place to behold.

I had the 'pleasure' of a public house called the Frighted Horse on my way back from Cardiff on several occasions as it's handy for the M5.

It was a West Indian shebeen full of dominoes and dark rums of various descriptions on the high Street into Birmingham and once the initial suspicions/tensions had eased (we were a minibus load of football fans) it was a great place to spend a few hours and we were welcomed back and indeed had three trips there.

However it's not what I'd call ideal for a weekend
