| Lets be fair to the obsessed Hudds fans on here.
Their fans have NEVER caused an ounce of trouble, especially since our move to the HJ.
Their behaviour has been exemplary, and they always park that bike they borrowed of The Goodies, responsibly. Well done.

| Am I the only person embarrassed by the way the club has buried it's head in the sand over this? Stereo silence, compared to the professional reaction we saw from the Widnes club last summer.

| Quote ="FARTOWNFORLIFE"Met some right idiot wire fans over the years. Watched them fighting amongst themselves more than once.
It's a shame, and I feel for the good genuine folk who there's plenty of.
Most clubs have these doylems, wire just seem to have more than most.
Should try identifying the individuals and weed them out instead of the clubs name getting dragged through the mud.
Brought a good following on Sunday. Just a shame only a quarter or so of them stayed til the end!!!'"
Yes every team has got its idiots.. Let's face it Huddersfield have you..!! Is that enough of your pointless trolling now or can we expect more of this nonesense ?

I don't think the club needed to comment on this incident it happened & was dealt with by the RFL The Widnes fans behaviour last year was worse than anything I have seen. & there were flares set off by Widnes fans at the same game that has not been mentioned. The problem with the Wire flare was that someone I believe an off duty fire man picked it up & threw it away from the crowd & onto the pitch. No excuse for morons.

I for one applauded Widnes's actions following the semi-final but do think that a pitch invasion is different than an object on the pitch (not condoning that in the slightest).
What I have seen at the HJ since the event was a flare being dealt with very quickly by Warrington stewards + fan...bucket of sand, bang, out ! , a group of kids being spoken to by those security types after that. and a whole section of the terracing being taped off at the Catalan game where the problems normally start. Is the club burying its head or have they already started taking measures against those that they feel are involved ? IIRC 2 long banning orders were issued by the club last year for people involved in flares.
As regards no action against Widnes fans ? Does that mean its only if stuff gets on the pitch that gets you into trouble ?

| Do they do random searches at the HJ? I know we had an explosive device as such I think in the Salford game, they then random searched everyone on the next game.I thought clubs got fined if flares hit the pitch?

Yes they do, but the problem with "random" is searching the right person. Clubs dont necessarily get fined for actions of their fans as such. It depends on magnitude and also what the club can demonstrate they did to prevent any incidents (IIRC Castleford were not fined because Gareth Thomas was abused, they were fined for doing nothing about it). I think part of the reason that Warrington have only been warned is that a) they have taken action over flares in the past and b) Widnes were supposed to have been stewarding this game (Warrington stewards have worked these games in the past but not this one).

| Ok thanks for that buddy.
Just one final question? Does the prevention have to be in place before the incident or can clubs put it into place after the incident?

| Warrington Stewards were offered for the game & rejected. The Warrington Stewards are aware of the likely culprits.

I would presume its like any kind of incident. If it can be foreseen, "appropriate" measures would be expected to be in place before hand. If it was something out of the blue, then clubs would be expected to react accordingly. The grey area would be the term "appropriate". You can stop flares by stopping them getting into the ground by searching EVERYBODY. BUT this would be regarded as excessive.

| This is hardly surprising is it. Anyone that went anywhere near Wilderspool in 80s knows full well what Warrington supporters are like.
The only ground I stopped going to. Simply not worth it. Like going to the zoo.

The only time I was ever searched was going to watch saints at the HJ>
I don't and didn't have a problem with it; I just assumed they were looking for booze.
They were searching everyone who went in through those turnstiles where we were (East Stand).

I'm sure our accountants were gutted that they didn't get your couple of quid.
Seriously. What a load of old conkers about our reputation in the 80's
I was an ever present from '82 onwards, and witnessed trouble on a handful of occasions, and they tended to be against the Hull sides, or the Wids. Stains was just a run of the mill game, in those days

I'll second that.
Don't ever recall any trouble at wilderspool either- even when the fans staged the sit-in that time it was relatively calm.
I also agree the wire stewards are goons. Bunch of miserable killjoys the lot of em.
-and what's that about stopping the players going to their family and friends in the crowd at the end of the game????? Lmao last season when ukuma ta'ai just pushed passed them -the look of panic on their faces!!

Can honestly say I've never seen any trouble involving Warrington fans at our stadium (bar the s with the smoke bombs). Only had a season ticket 8 years so couldn't really comment on Wilderspool.
The only time at any other ground I've had any bother was at Widnes in April this year which was a nightmare, a handful of our fans were idiots but quite a few Widnes fans were indiscriminate in who they vented their anger at on the way out. Wouldn't hesitate to take my kids to a game otherwise.

| The only time I can think of it ever kicking off at the HJ involving Warrington fans was that Hull game, probably around 07/08? The one where all the Hull City fans came along because some of our lot had beat one of their lot up at Hull away one time.

| I've been watching Wire since 1988 and I've seen some moronic behaviour at a few away grounds.. Most of these teams have fans coming on here to slag Wire off, always makes me chuckle how angelic they think they are..
