Newspaper article from Liverpool Echo (Liverpool, England)
Article details
ST HELENS staged a miraculous fight back to deny Warrington victory in a dramatic finish to the engage Super League derby at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
The Wolves looked to have secured only their second win over their illustrious neighbours in 22 Super League meetings when they led 16-4 with 10 minutes left.
You cant beat scoring at the final hooter to win a game.

That's the one we were talking about. Closest I've ever come to crying at a match at the unfairness of it all!

| I still think the Warrington v Bradford from 2000 was the best ever Warrington comeback. Probably the most exciting and intense second half atmosphere I can remember at Wilderspool.
For a comeback I remember watching on TV, an Aussie playoff a good few years back where Parramatta were leading the Bulldogs 18-2 with about 10 minutes to go and a place in the Grand Final at stake. The Bulldogs basically needed to score three tries back to back without letting Parra have a set in possession to kill the game. Long odds but they did it. Daryl Halligan was the Bulldogs goalkicker and he had missed one of the conversions, so the last try - scored in the corner with a minute to go, was a conversion from the sideline to take it to extra time. Halligan kicked it and the game was still alive. The Bulldogs then went on to win it in extra time. Absolutely incredible game.

Just watched that again, brought back some memories
4 minutes 46 seconds - Seems Mr Ganson has always had problems understanding the laws regarding offside when the ball is kicked!

March 2006 - I was lucky enough to watch it - I say lucky, the second half was the only bit worth watching!!
I was also there to watch probably the best match I've seen - against Bradford - again, lucky enough to be there - but I have the DVD of the match - and watch it all the time while waiting in my car picking my kids up.

Despite some of the tonkings we have had over the years that game ranks as the most painful I've ever been to.
It was a lovely sunny day but by the start of the second half it was peeing it down. Summed up my mood at the end of the game!!

I was ill that day and, given it was Bradford, had decided to not go. I changed my mind at the last minute and decided to go. Call it fate.
EDIT: Just watching the highlights of that game again and it's really accentuating how crazy it is that the commentators of last night's Sky game were talking about 2 potential reds for that little fight... And this Bradford game doesn't come close to the game at Central Park in 2001!

| My choice of the best ever Wire comeback is our win at Langtree Park last September.
We were 14 - 6 down with 2 minutes to half time against a Saints side that had been to 5 consecutive Grand Finals & knew how to play & win the games that mattered.
On the 38th minute we had the ball in the Saints 20 metres line and Woody somehow got an off load out of a 3 man tackle, Monas M got the ball & passed it to His Royal Highness King Lee who passed on to Simon Grix who had ran the perfect line & went over the line carrying 2 Saints players. This try meant we went in only 14 - 12 down & the rest is Wire history.
What a night I had that night.

The Bradford one was much more spectacular imo. Seeing as we were massive underdogs and had only just scraped the playoffs.

What was the game a couple of years ago involving Wigan where their fans were posting at half time that the game was won and they could ease off in the second half? They finished up being very embarrassed and the rest of RL Fans had a field day. There's something in the back of my mind that says either Bradford or London.

My mind is also leaning to Wigan (h) 2001 on a Friday night
It was supposed to be on Sky, but we (from memory) were taking a few beatings in the previous weeks, so they changed it to Leeds v London
Wigan were 18-0 up in no time, then we battered them for 40 mins, then Wigan turned the screw, and I think they took the lead with only 5 mins to go, only for Lee Penny to score one of his special 40 yard tries, with about a minute to go. One of the most entertaining nights at Wilderspool ever.'"
Lefty. It was 12-0 after 8 minutes then we scored 26 points in about 12 minutes with the Pies hardly touching the ball. I can remember a miracle pass from David Kidwell to put Steve McCurrie over. I've still got the Video and watch it whenever I need cheering up.
It was one of my best nights at Wilderspool, I was in the sponsors lounge with several other members of RL Fans. We sponsored the match ball that night.

2010 away v Bradford. Wigan were 20 - 0 up at half time (it probably should have been 40) Bradford came back to win
22 - 20.

| Widnes V Wigan 2012?
Wigan got the early lead, Widnes pulled it back, then Wigan pushed on in the 2nd half only for Widnes to pull it back once more then go on to win by a point??

| I remember the Wire v Bradford game, and still go to Youtube to watch it every now and then.
But the match that sticks in my mind was Hull KR vs Wire in the BBC2 floodlight competition at Craven Park. Only the old farts like me will remember it because it was 1967. It was a game we were not expected to win, and we were on the back foot for much of the game. In the last Q Hull were attacking our line, but Jackie Melling intercepted and ran the whole length of the field to score. We won the game by a single point 13-12.

That was going to be my choice, we got to St Helens not long after 12 and it was the longest afternoon of my life, couldn't enjoy the ale at all. There was a horrible sense of inevitability and 'here we go again', then the rest as you write is history! It didn't sink in for me until we got back to the Chapel House in Sankey, sat down and said right what are we doing about grand final tickets? Brilliant.

Putting Mr Davies' incredible ability aside, some of the supporting cast weren't too bad either were they?
Footage like this should be compulsory viewing for everyone under 30 and certain sky commentators just to remind them that before Super League, RL wasn't fat props belting each other in 4ft of mud and scoring one yard bargeovers whilst Eddie Warring crooned "ehhtss an oopp and unda" incessantly.

| Langer going back to save Queensland in 2001 when the world was turning on the 'untouchable' Wayne Bennett. Not bad for a rusty bag of bones that had been playing in the duldrums of SL all season, went on to score and win the game for them.
