Hicks has been brilliant... but he is at the end of his career... Smith obviously thought the chance to sign Monaghan was to good an opportunity to miss.... im sure Hicks got a nice paypacket out of the deal as well.

Out of interest why only a 1 year deal? Planning to go back to the NRL after its all died down? Otherwise why not with an option of a further year etc.

I suppose it could just be that he'll get a new contract next year on more money if and when it becomes available on the cap.

Really hope Hicks comes back at 1 of the first matches of the new season to get a proper send-off from the fans. He has been fantastic for us. All the best for the future Chris

Hicks came to Wire after scoring 78 tries in 181 games in the NRL. He then doubled that scoring rate for us.

Monas (J) comes to Wire after scoring 90 tries in 165 games in the NRL plus SOO and AUS recognition.

Gutted that Hicks won't be playing again but you can't argue with the CV of the replacement (minus recent dodgy behaviour!)

In all fairness you cant complain.Ok we are letting a great player in Hicks go.But on the other hand we have got a quality replacement for no transfer fee.I think its great bit of bussiness by Ts.
