I normally like a good moan about players but i'm just not seeing the need to for Roberts yet. If you want him to take on the line he needs options and decoy runners to draw away the opposition. We haven't got that in the squad . I haven't seen Hughes, King, et al run a decent line. What you don't want your half back doing is taking drives up the middle because no-one is running the angles . For me it's too early to write him off, the squad still has a hang over from the last regime and it's going to take time for the new systems to bed in.

Thats funny. Patton gets slagged off rotten because he doesn't take the line on. He doesnt get dummy runners either so is he now excused?

But we know roberts CAN do it....he may never for us but he is capable unlike Patton. Barba and sandow were gash in their first 5\6 games until they sorted their fitness out but their ability was never in doubt and neither is Roberts. I must admit he's beginning to test my patience but I think we need to give him a little longer.

I've no issues with him being in the team. I'd like to see something of him in attack. His defence is ok.

I think you are expecting too much "rubber". Half-backs are not outstanding all the time.
His kicking game vs. Cats was very good. If you didn't notice him that is your fault. You need to be more patient. I'm more worried about you than Roberts. It's very easy to whip up the anti on this forum so I think you should give it a rest.

I thought he was fine given the conditions. Give him time to settle. Were players like Monaghan and King tearing it up after 6 games? No they certainly weren't; they were given time and thank goodness as well. You can't expect things to be rosey and to be making concrete judgments on new players/systems after 6 games in winter conditions.

Take no notice of him. There's always one idiot who spouts off, thinking he knows all the inside info and is an expert on all subjects, whether it's down the pub or on the internet.

Coincidentally monaghans worst performances were in the terrible weather of 2008, when the pitch was a mudbath

Nice to see Roberts smiling for the first time this season. Hopefully he’ll start to settle and enjoy himself when the temperature starts to rise a bit.

If my memory is right in the early days we tried to make Monaghan into a scrum half which I think he fancied. That didn't quite work out.

Roberts' kicking was very good against Catalans and that lovely "no look" pass to the 2nd wave runner in the first try.

I think both half backs got kicking & distribution right on a really horrible day.
