They also lost to London, Fev, HKR and Toulouse in their other games against them, and you then lost to HKR in the first game of the 8s, so what's your point?
Fax were probably the form Championship team coming into the 8's, and were perhaps unlucky with the fixtures, but I still don't get your point?
This I agree with - I was genuinely impressed with Fax's defense, and general play in attack, nice offloads etc.
But the MPG game? No chance. All 4 SL teams plus HKR too far ahead in quality. The MPG game will be another all SL encounter, with HKR safely promoted.'"
Why.. If we beat Catalans, fev London and keep Leigh close then should see us make it on PD.
This fax team conceded the least points in the champoionship and we always get written off just like you lot expected a 66-0 hammering of us on sat but instead were lucky to leave with 2 points.

A lot of 'ifs'.
Sure, we all thought that we'd put some points on you as we'd just stuck 50 odd on Catalans and thought (hoped) that we'd kick on after a season of misery and it's new territory for us so apologies if we got giddy with our predictions. Your 'mate' Norman Bates didn't disagree with our summation either, but, fair play to your defence and general play that has been acknowledged by many on here.
Whether we were "lucky" I'll leave that thought with you and wish you well for the rest of the comp

Indeed I didn't.
I think if we had our full team out on Saturday it would have been VERY close, but I can't say we would have won a nobody knows that. With a bit of luck we could potentially end up with 6 points and be pushing somebody, probably Catalans, close. Somebody did say earlier on this thread that theynpity who has Cats next and as ever it's us, at least that should allow us to shout fix at another e ref.
I'm not sure what is wrong at Wire and Cats as on appear they have really strong squads, guess it must be coaching!!!!
Onward and upward and we may be seeing you again next season, in the middle 8's if you don't change something.

You've got to hope that changes are afoot, but, if we play you next year I hope it's away in the Challenge Cup as I fancy a day out .
Good luck and if you 'feel the need' carry on predicting by all means.

You're forgetting who we had out on Saturday. Add Clarke, Currie, Westerman, Cooper & Crosby into the pack with Gidley in the halves and it wouldn't have been close no matter what team you put out. Even with our current coaching issues.

A commonly held misconception. In RL, play-offs decided the champs from before the First World War to 1973, and for the past 19 years.
Rugby union, cricket, basketball, ice hockey, field hockey, netball: all use play-offs to decide their champions. Most British sports fans are familiar with the Super Bowl or baseball's World (sic!) Series.
Association football, and for a relatively short period of its history, RL, are the exception in British sport, not the rule. And even in soccer, play-offs to determine promotion are long established, whilst the top competition in Europe uses a mix of league and knock-out matches (despite its title of Champions League).
A play-off system to determine champions is therefore widely accepted; to suggest otherwise is to mis-understand the true nature of British sport.

Ok i take your point here, i personally still think its wrong and if Wigan or Saints who are currently 17 points adrift of Cas go on to win it i still can not have them as champions.

| What is influencing RL, like many other sports , is that we are being run by & for the convenience of tv & betting companies. Probably Premier League football is too big to be pushed into a play off system, which would be too difficult to fit into an overlong season anyway.

| I'm still convinced that each year, a "big" club will be dragged into the middle eights to provide excitement. I guess only the next few years will prove me deluded or correct. I find it very strange that that both Leeds and us can perform a ccomplete 180 and go from top to bottom over the course of a close season. It's all a game. And Yes, I'm aware how bonkers that all sounds.

Why? Surely the powers that be want the more profitable clubs to be competing at the top of the table. Just compare our crowds this year to last!

| "The Warrington people hadn't had success for a few years, but there's no speccy in the world as good.
They are very knowledgeable and appreciative of hard work. What they like is honesty. They want the team to try; if they fail, they fail, but they expect honesty.
They know when players don't put it in."
Mike Gregory from 'Biting Back', talking about the loss in the 1990 CCF v Wigan
As relevant, if not more so, than it was after that defeat 27 years ago.
What I want most of all from my Warrington team is that they always try their best and never, EVER, take the p155 out of the fans by cruising through 80 minutes, or as 'The Untouchable One' puts it, being flat.

| I presume no one is seriously suggesting our game is fixed. Hetherington (supposedly the arch manipulator) agreeing to Leeds being in the Middle 8's last season, SJM agreeing this year, London in the Championship, Catalan at real risk of relegation. Where is the benefit to any of this? Supporters despairing the type of rugby they are seeing (not just us check out Wigan and Saints forums), when if the game was fixed a choreographed product to a much higher standard would be manageable. Wingers scoring tries ala Penny v.1 would be the norm.
Nope its plain old incompetence together with a headlong rush to the lowest common denominator.
I truly worry for the future of the game if standards across the board don't improve, and improve quickly.

Great quote. I believe some of our players have been putting in less than 100% at multiple points through our season, and that alone is totally unacceptable. Any coach that can either not spot that, or allows it, or cannot stop it, needs to be shown the door too.

| I always thought Rhys Evans gave 100% effort, are you sure that is all you want? Do skill and flair play no part in it? If so I've missed out on brilliant rugby career because I never lacked effort...skill, pace, flair, ball handling, kicking ability however were in very short supply.

| I think what Mile G was aaying, if I can be so bold, is that we expext everyone to put evey effort in to harness whatever god given talent they have.
Jonathan Davies, Ellery Hanley, Shaun Edwards, Jason Robinson etc. All supremely gifted playera who also worked bl**dy hard to achieve what they did both by effort on the field and attitude off it.
Compare to, off the top of my head, Chris Sandow, Richard Henare, Jon Roper etc. Those players had huge ability but lacked the work ethic and attitude to embrace and enhance it.
Then we have the likes of Cullen, who were never going to be world beaters but kept better players out of the team by virtue of their effort, desire and honesty and the wires faithful loved them for it.

I don't believe you.
So, for you, we could put 17 of the Under 19s out every game, play banal 1 up rugby, get smashed every week, get relegated, but so long as they gave 100% you'd be happy ? Happy with the way the club was run ? Happy paying your £20 admission? Happy with a lack of recruitment ? and Happy with the coaching ?
Really ?!?!

| If that was our only option then yes, I'd clap them off. You're not applying context to the statement. The context being that we are a team who buy players unlike most teams, a team that states they want to be a regular top 4 team and a team that pay top wages. It's the players that are involved in the latter part of this that aren't giving 100% and are being rightly scrutinized.

I don't care if you believe me or not. There are 10 average or worst than that teams in SL this season.
If one of those 10 had given 100% throughout the squad throughout the season, they'd be 3rd at least. That could have been us and we'd all be much happier than we are now!
