Thing is no matter what marketing you do, there will only be so many that want to go to the games. I mean we could advertise tiddlywinks at the HJ on ITV in the middle of corrie to no avail. I think that the vast majority of the population are aware of the Wolves.

That was my point about the day trippers for wembley, thats what they are, day trippers, not potential customers.

and obviously they like the day out in the summer down to london, and not the day out in early autumn to rainy manchester.

It's hard to shift 25,000 odd tickets in a week. Our fan base isn't that great compared to other clubs. Wembley is different. you have a month(ish) to get them shifted. That gives people time to save and the 50/50 people time to be convinced by their mates to say 'yeah go on then I'll go. The silverware more we win stuff the quicker we will sell events like this out.

I'm surprised there wont be a homecoming parade if we win. that's exactly the sort of thing that will entice people to come and watch and grow the club in the town

It's incredibly hard to sell the idea of a grand final to someone who doesn't watch RL. What? you finished top but you didn't win? Its a joke. We all know it. Its a money spin. It's too American, rings instead of medals... bands at half time. Sky want it to be like the Superbowl and it never will. British sport isn't like that and it never will be.

What you mean is that football isn't like and it never will be. Although that doesn't stop football using play-offs to decide promotion: what, you finished third, but a team three places below you went up rather than you?

It's not a joke-we wouldn't have done the double in 1954 without play-offs. It's intrinsically linked to the history of our sport. There's no reason that can't be 'sold' to people, just because it's not what the Premier League do.

Rugby League has had 75 Grand Finals to decide the champions of the sport in this country, most of which were long before the modern era. It is not a modern thing, it's not a Sky thing.

Only 46 times in our sport's history have the champions been crowned by winning the league and I hope that figure never gets higher.

All three of our championships were Grand Final wins:
1948, 15-5 v Bradford
1954, 8-7 v Halifax
1955, 7-3 v Oldham

We only topped the league ladder in the last those seasons.

Being consistently good over the whole season is one thing, playing in a high pressure situation in front of big crowds (and a huge crowd for the final) against the other most consistent sides over the season, is another and proves you're the best imo.

On the ticket sales front, according to the rl website, you can no longer buy tickets on the website as they have sold and the only way to obtain them is at the Old Trafford shop. So hopefully a good sign attendance wise.

I imagine this is due to systems and processes, rather than due to the level of sales.

Ordered mine last Tuesday and been to OT this morning to pick it up, open from 10am, didn't want to be in queue's before the game


No queue and nowhere to park, but being an old fart a steward let me park near the railway bridge and then I could walk over.
Ticket guy said it normally gets busy about 4pm for people picking tickets from the ground
I'm in the SAF stand, near where I was when we lost last time, but higher up this time.
