Yep - agreed.
I live in Northampton and watched it at the pub as couldn't face the friday night journey to see a performance that I expected to be dodgy.

The problem is far more underlying than that.
Wire don't have the strength in depth that they perceive.
This will be harsh for many Wire fans to accept, but I think Smith will go in a couple of years when the "oldies" retire.

| Quote ="fez1"I can fully understand why people are hacked off with this performance.
For me it shows we don't have the strength in depth some think we have.
BUT I can't agree with all the doom and gloom (a lot of it -yes, but not all).
TS has to take responsibility for this performance. Simply too many changes.
Tyke had a good game imo and is in contention for a starting place as Wembley.
I thought Blythe tried hard and did OK, but won't force himself into the 17.
Evans didn't really do a lot wrong, and neither did Williams but they were never really in contention for Wembley in my view.
Bridge had a poor game but so did Monas
Moz looked off the pace compared to Hill
Cooper tried hard but is 5th prop at the club (6th if you include Harrison).
Riley had a poor game but was safe under the bomb (except for when Myler got in the way).
Woody and Waterhouse seemed to get pulled off early but did ok (hope they're not injured).
Grix did himself no favours and Solo needs to get fitter (really looked overweight).
Atkins seemed to have an eye on Wembley
Myler and Ratch still need a Briers in the side.
Early days but (unless there are any knocks I guess Wembley line up will be -
Hodgson
Riley
Atkins
Ratchford
Monaghan
Briers
Myler
Carvell
Higham
Hill
Westwood
Waterhouse
Harrison
Monas
Wood
Moz
and one from Grix / Tyke'"
Tyke for me, he's been immense in the last two months.

| Just got home after the game (I live just up the road so one vote for Broncos staying where they are). What an awful mess tonight. At the end of the game most Wires supporters gave the team a good reception, coming down to the wall and clapping them. There were one or two who were angry and shouting abuse and Riley got a bit upset and was shouting back for a while before he was calmed down.
Clearly next week was in everyone's minds but it is difficult to be sure just how good some of our younger players really are. It's also a bit of a shame to gain points against top teams just to throw them away here. We shouldn't lose by that much.
Oh well, roll on next week.

Or one oldie in particular - Lee Briers. Warrington never look the same without him and his unwashed flowing locks pulling the strings. Surely he can't keep going much longer either.

I think it is fair to say the depth is there, but the definition is squad depth. Wholesale changes that fail to make the necessary impact, is more a reflection of the composition of the side than the individuals.
I would have thought Smith would relish reinventing the squad, similar to the task of what he did at Leeds.

It isn't. They are average as some of us more reasoned supporters have been telling you for a while.
You'll beat Leeds by at least 20 points.

| Wembley next week, 1st or 2nd in the league, I don't really give two s. Simple fact is tonight was an absolute disgrace. 62 yes 62 points conceded against a team near the bottom of the league is nothing short of disgraceful. No other team in the league would have lost by that score tonight no matter what was coming next week. It just shows a complete disregard for the people paying their wages.

| Just a few obvious notes on tonights game, and the season in general.
1/ You can count on 1 hand the number of impressive games we have played this season.
2/ We are nowhere near as an impressive team as we were last season. ( please don't quote stats like, by this time last season........
3/ A lot of the players on the pitch tonight we're just not interested..
4/ When Briers ( and it's taken 8 pages to name him) is not on the pitch, we are utterly clueless.
5/ This season has been by far the worse I can remember ( quality-wise) in SL. The sooner P+R is brought back, the franchise system is ridden, and winning SL is far more important than a separate comp finalising at Old Trafford, the better. What other sporting organisation rewards a team to be higher than the 1 that wins it's weekly rounds?
6/ Get Bridge fully-fit and put him 2nd row.
7/ Myler...just go away, only Offiah is laughing
8/ London played very well. Ok, they got a few decisions, but David Howells was certainly impressive, they were fast, hungry, clever at the ptb and Luke Dorn was 6/4 to score anytime
9/ Anyone who thinks that, that performance will be turned-around next week, is deluded.
10/ Michael Monaghan, by his own words, will never be 100% fit again, why did'nt we have a secondary hooker on the bench?

All points possibly worth debating.
Just one question; where were you are the Saints and Wigan games.

| Don't worry we will be properly prepared next week.
However few negative points; Bridge, get ball look undecided shuffle get tackled? Surely this is not all done to an injury?
WIlliams; sorry but his defense is astonishingly poor.
Solomona; time is up. What a shame.
Evans; I am struggling to see what position he could really excel in. Same as Blythe in that respect.
Tony Smith; to make that mistake once is acceptable..to do it twice smacks of arrogance.
Positives; erm Ratchford was okay. Waterhouse was strong again.

| Well said 1905.
Tonight was a meaningless friendly just like last week.
It will be funny to see the London fans getting all giddy about winning just like some of our fans were reading significance into beating the Pies last week.
When the pre season is over and the proper games start in September then we can start getting excited about winning games.

The significance is that 17 players went to work with the attitude " I can't be bothered, I'll do it next week."
Try going to work on monday and see how far that attitude gets you. Try telling that to the fans who forked out good money to watch that. 2nd half result of 38-0, is totally unacceptable, whatever team, whatever sport. It shows a distinct lack of respect to the fans and to the game itself.

| The last time I saw Wires play that badly in London was the infamous game when Matt King was shouting at the fans and got into trouble for it. We were thrashed in that game too. That was shortly before the big turn around in our fortunes. The big difference was that all the Wires fans were angry and vocal that night but tonight all but a very few were supportive right to the end and beyond.
I can accept that we lose a game now and again particularly with an understrength team but no top side can accept a performance like tonight. What do tonight's 'possibles' think it says about them?

Whilst he would never admit it in public, Smith simply wanted to get tonight out of the way. He didn't care if you lost by 100 as long as the players stayed fit.
Tonight should serve as a good example of how little regard anyone in the sport has for the League Leaders Hubcap. It's a daft trophy that should be scrapped now, no one wants it, the players are embarrassed to receive it, knowing they look daft receiving a trophy when the title is still to be decided.
It might sound daft, but tonights result shows Warrington are focused on winning trophies. Your approach to the season and the way you are playing is classic Saints. Daft defeats to rubbish sides, hammerings pre-finals and champagne rugby in the big games. I fully expect the double to be headed your way this year.

Chris Hill will walk the young player of the year as well imo.

| Watched this with my mum who is seventy. She recons you can’t play this game at anything less than 100% (We didn’t have a discussion about whether or not more than 100% is possible, so I’m not sure where she stands on that issue). She claims that the instant you switch off, even for a second, you’ve had it. We never switched on, so game over.
Sorry to add this, and these are not my words, honestly they are not, she thinks Bridge is poop.
