And he had the cheek to appeal against what he saw as a harsh punishment, but the RFL disciplinary board through it out, so he still has a 2 match ban and had to surrender a £200 Bond on top of his original £300 fine. Good to see that the disciplinary board still has some teeth.

I'm not trying to score points, I was sickened by what you implied (that RL clubs should leave sack off those banned for drug offences as they'll "come back a better player"icon_wink.gif. Hence my sarcastic comment. In retrospect I should have realised the wire collective wouldn't understand the sarcasm so there it is spelt out for you all.

RL clubs SHOULD stick by their banned players giving them the help they need when required after all we don't want anyone in the position Newton found himself in. Anyone who thinks that's a slight on Newton, is misreading what I've written as it's a damn shame (with terrible consequences) what happened to him, in part because his club didn't support him at his time of need. A mistake Wigan didn't make with Hock.

The outrage about Hock on here btw is laughable, he's barely put a foot wrong this season and has been severely punished for throwing a few rabbit punches (with provocation). No doubt the RFL will ban any player throwing a punch for two games if they don't have a disciplinary record though I very much doubt it.
