This is an interesting one, hopefully it's got some legs in it. As I rate him, good goal kicker as well (although Hicks has been kicking good recently).
Tickle would be a good improvement on PJ.

Tickle can be a very good player, in fact I would say he has been one of Hull's better players this year, for some reason we play he for 80 minutes each week and I dont think that helps him. He was excellent in his first season at Hull, poor last year (like most players) and up and down this year.

Think he would be a good signing for you, Hull are pretty strong in the backrow (If Agar used them right), so it wouldnt be a massive loss to Hull and you cant blame for wanting to be nearer his family.

As another poster has siad the brother is usually very good with his rumours, so I would take this seriously if I was you.

I would have Tickle. I always rated his distribution as a second rower, but he was used like a prop in his last year at the pies. It made him look poor.
He needs a little more room to run but he still runs direct.
I think he would do very well in a team with Higham or Monas as their speed at the play of the ball will suit.

Tickle is worth 12 points a game for his kicking ability alone.
To be honest, he would be a tremendous signing for the Stains. Their game is based on quick plays and for years they have struggled to find a consistant goal kicker. God I hope they don't sign him

I wouldnt want Tickle at wire IMO harrison westwood and possible louis are all better than him even lee mitchell is coming through now aswell as for goal kicking we are heavily linked with sinfield and even myler a lot of us are forgetting that there is actually a salary cap in the super league so for me tickle would be a big no no because people like harrison would have to make way for him

When he was at Wigan he was known to be from a big St Helens supporting family.........not sure if that meant he supported them or not.

Who cares though to be fair, he'd be a top signing for Wire imo if you get the good Danny Tickle.

He blows hot and Cold from year to year more so then any other player i've seen but when he's on top form he's superb.

We tried to sign him before he went to Hull but he wated more than we were willing to pay, not sure what his demands are like now. also, he is soooo full of himself.

Tickle is a good player, but I'm not sure how he fits in.
A good kicker, but our pack is pretty good and we've signed up our entire pack for next year and have several youngsters in the wings.

He replaces Johnson and provides good kicking ability as you say

this story has been doing the rounds for a little while now so comes as no big surprise.average player but good kicker,smith obviously sees something in him,and with the right coaching might be able to raise his game.hopefully i will be back on here in 12 months time singing his praises.

Its a shame Warrington/Tony couldn't of told the fans before the NOTW did.

If you look at his stats he's quite a hard worker.

18th in top metres
10th in top carries
12th in top tackles
8th in top offloads
19th in tackle busts
4th top goalkicker
Error count of 0.6 per game, which is low.

And he's not injury prone, if you look back to when he really broke through in 2001 he's either played in every round or only missed the odd game.

The bad part of his game is the following;

2nd in missed tackles
10th on penalties given away

Now under Smith we are giving away fewer penalties, and on the whole our defence is more solid so I'm sure Smith could improve those aspects of Tickle's performance.

Smith will get the best out of him...he will be a much better player this time next year....
